On my 2014 TDI, I had a bad oil leak under the intake. It was a couple inches submerged. I assumed it was the oil cooler so I replaced all gaskets(oil cooler, adapter plate, o-rings, and a plastic bypass valve). I noticed the leak yet again, same location. Under the intake is covered in oil and submerged again about 2,000km later. Is there anything else under the intake that can leak oil? I cleaned things very thorough and my oil extractor got every drop of oil out under that intake. Thoughts?

I can when I do the job yeah. I have two 2014’s. one is my daily driver and the one with the leak was my project tdi that’s all done other than this leak. Low priority but i should have all my parts this upcoming week fingers crossed.

The things been sitting a while but I had some free time and tore things apart. Man I found enough sh*t to make me sick from whoever worked on this thing last. Two injectors had double copper gaskets for the injector tips, and consequently leaked combustion gasses and soot into the injector hole. Both of those injectors retainer pieces were broken in two but the person just left them that way so I brought new hold downs in. The injector was cemented in by the soot and carbon so it required a slide hammer I use to pull semi truck injectors. The valve cover gaskets had both the gasket and rtv all around, and the rtv must’ve failed and pushed out the stream of oil filling up my lower intake valley All oem parts, new injector seals and valve cover gaskets and she’s bone dry. God I hate hack mechanics.

I had the same problem I changed the oil cooler but still leaking like crazy. Do you have the part list for the gaskets you replaced. Thank you

No sorry, I deleted my parts list for this job over a year ago. I know there are posts and sites that will give you the complete list of your look up 3.0 tdi valley reseal or something along those lines.

Mine was driver side at the back corner facing the passenger side. Pretty much right between the valve cover and intake manifold near the back. The valley indeed has the oil cooler. It sits below the EGR cooler under the intake manifold. That valley will hold at least a gallon of oil till it spills over, as there is no weep hole to let the content drain out. It’s a fun one but totally do able to
