Basically trying to work out if it's a 3500kg tow pack or not. If is not I could be up for 2k to upgrade it.

I can't see a controller but that doesn't mean much.

Also if anyone sees any red flags let me know.

It’s a Touareg 150TDI (7P)
3500kg
TBM: 280kg
Rear axle: 1540kg

Yes but that doesn't mean this hitch is rated at that.

Also if it's a light duty unit it's useless to me.

Plus I can't see a brake controller but if I'm correct you don't need it if the used the OEM control module.

I'm not sure if dealer can check infotainment unit and see if tow settings or something like that. Without that vw cable.

No tow settings in the infotainment unit
The towbar should have a compliance sticker, and also one on the B pillar (mine did)
If it doesn’t have a brake controller you will need a read arc fitted or use and elec brake or similar
The OEM control module does a bunch of stuff
  • disables the rear side densors
  • changes the gearbox shift pattern
  • Changes the view in the rear vision camera
  • Enables theft alarm on disconnect of plug or change vehicle leve
  • Disables remote opening of rear hatch

If it hasn't got one id likely order the OEM unit just to be sure.

Agree with @c4ar
It has a red arc brake controller
It has steel springs (no air)
The tow bar looks very similar to mine made by Best Bars and is likely 3500kg/280kg
But you need to validate that by looking for tow bar compliance sticker

The photos only show one ignition key. There should be two.
Yea I'll order a 2nd and get it programmed.

Yep i was looking elsewhere in pics for the controller. I can live with with a lower spec hitch receiver. That's easy enough to swap out.

For 16k I'll likely grab it.

Order extra key and few other things.

It's only the 150, not the 180. Some of the 180's had dual range 4WD too.
If you're planning on towing anything, might be better to keep looking for a higher specced one, or a lower priced one.
Also, it has pretty high mileage for a 2015 car at $17k.
Other than that, they're comfy cars. I'm super happy with mine.

It seems to be the going price.
I found a 180kw air suspension, local to me, 180k no tow bar so 2k ish there. For 21k

Which if I can knock off a few K with cash I might look at.

Air suspension is one of the main attributes that make the Touareg a great towing vehicle. The car and trailer are always level and therefore more stable on the road. You don't get that "bum on the ground lights pointing at the clouds" attitude you see in some tow vehicles. It's worth the extra money to look for a model with air.

Found one local 21k high spec.

If i can knock them down a few K I'll buy it. No tow pack though.
