Touareg 7L6 Console Compartment cable function?

Hello I have recently bought a Touareg 7l6 V6 TDI from 2010, it has installed a RNS510 with CD Changer in trunk and maps (but no Bluetooth or aux plug).

I would like to know what is missing in the Console Compartment. There is a rectangular hole with a 3 wire cable plug beyond. Does anyone knows what is missing, or for what purpose is this?

There is only dummy cover 7L6857370. Maybe u could put there 7L0947415 light.

@Shapebuster -- The shape of the cut-out looks like it is used for AUX-IN connector part number 5M0035724, like this example: 2010-2013 VW JETTA GOLF Aux In Auxiliary Socket 5M0035724 OEM | eBay
Note the wire colours in the wire harness cable: VW used these colours for AUX-IN to the RCD/RNS radios when your 2010 Touareg was built. --g

That aux connector could be pretty handy. might look into getting one myself.

It really is!
I already bought it, but here is quite easy and cheap to find parts for these cars... Its the part number 1K0035724.

That part you listed looks like a 4 pin input. The plug in your first post is only a 3 pin. Did you get the right part?

Yes. I messed up with the link or it changed. I will edit. The correct one is the Part 1K0035724. It has the correct shape and wire conector.

I had the arm rest out from our 2011 Golf Variant wagon recently and found this AUX-IN connector in the storage box:

According to the wiring diagram, the grey wire is on pin 1 of T3ag (3-terminal connector):

So, depending on whether the existing wiring harness connector mates properly with the AUX-IN connector, you may need to replace the existing wiring harness connector (one reason why I try to find connectors with wiring harness pigtails from auto parts recyclers in case I need to adapt the wiring harness to the retrofit connector). --g
