My car has recently started running rough/surging immediately after start... blip the accelerator quickly and it runs normally -- Weather in Brisbane anywhere between 10 - 21 Deg C recently serviced @ 98,000Km - recent trip towing van round trip BNE to Inskip point distance a bit over 500Km good run with average speed of 89 Kph driven in S mode. -- any helpful suggestions -- no fault codes via VCDS scan. Thanks in advance

I know you said no faults via VCDS, but if you saved the auto-scan post it on here for others to analyze. Maybe someone will see something you're not.

Checked your intake horn for build up? They can do that when the carbon/oil buildup gets too much.
Yes I did that a bout 2,000 Km ago before last service Just did the easy bis though the manifold on the head actual engine looked OK..

Thanks @New2Tregs attached - I thought that a pdf may be easier to read 1 old fault re Driver Recognition in Gateway 19 which seems irrelevant but it keeps coming up .

If it's only when cold (both engine and ambient temp), it could be a leaky injector or worn out glow plugs....
Try to "isolate" the exact conditions of when it happens. Look at your injector deviations. Check for signs of black death.
