I am glad consumer automobiles - light duty - are not equipped with disk air brakes.
Savage would have written a dissertation on how to set the proper gap on the Knorr-Bremse brake pad gap.

This was more of a write-up on how to unfac something that you chose to ignore the well documented process on how to do because "how hard could it be". ;)

Too bad you don't have a decent AGM battery; could have avoided a bunch of futility and fixed the brakes sooner.

Suppose that's further proof that being cheap doesn't pay...
Too bad you don't have VCDS or are willing to pull the history file off your superiorly equipped AGM battery powered vehicle to really be able to show everyone how crappy my "cheap" inferior OEM battery is.....

I'll take that bet, when I'm home on my week off. I've got a FF to change with my oil anyways so I'll have OBDeleven plugged right in.

While my HEX+CAN sits in the glovebox 😂

Literally same thing happened to me. Except I didn't do them had a buddy that owns a shop(not a vw shop) throw them on while I was tied up with work. He called and was like I think I broke it worse. But first thing I did was reset the air gap 4 or five times like an idiot. Ended letting the vehicle idle for a little while(ie over an hr) did it again same thing was all good.

Over the years I've seen low/weak batteries play havoc on all manufacturers car. I've just gotten into the habit of as I'm getting close to being done throw the maintainer on and have a cold one or a few.

If you can splurge an extra $50, get parking shoes and hardware too... mine were gross and I wish I had parts on hand to just replace everything.... now I'm going to have to rip it apart again to do those .... but since I used aftermarket el cheapo parts, I'll probably end up redoing the whole brake job again in a year's time! 🤡

But, but but.... @SaVAGeSoot told me my dealer was lying to me that I had park-brake issues because they should last 357,000 miles before needing replaced... and he told me cheap brakes will fare just as well as OEM quality.

I'VE BEEN LIED TO

inquiring minds want to know…

El Cheapo, non brand name, Chinesium whatevers..... full set cost ~ $300 CDN doll hairs.....
why?
Why would you take what is ostensibly the best engineered braking solution and dilute with egregious crap for repair parts? A phone call with me …and I would’ve warned you about all the ways in which this can go south… I’ve tried cheap brake parts in the past on my 2004 and I know that you lose braking action.

Easy solution … I ship FedEx ground to Canada incredibly reasonably. Why install inferior materials?

You've been drinking again.... not sure where you got that idea from

Easy answer.... regardless of what you or OEM or anyone else can offer me, it won't be anywhere near that cost.
Since I do my own wrenching, I wanted to see (try) what kind of lifespan I can get out of parts that cost be 25-30% of the correct, proper consumables.... sure, I expect degraded lifespan, but the way people are crashing into me, there's a good chance that some donkey will write off my ride before I get to wear out the Chinesium brakes I've thrown onto it.

Sounds a bit like “life sucks… then you die…” kind of mind set. Just say no to cheap parts… first off, grey iron vs high carbon… rotors… not sure what kind of pressed horsepucky pads comes at that price point. (Any pad hardware replaced?) I’m assuming you bought wear sensors…

LOL.... well, next time, I'll make sure you get approval from you on what I want to spend on my ride and the parts I'll install.
What is it that you're questioning here? I've already confirmed that I used cheap parts.
Everything that required replacement was replaced, except the TTY bolts. And it stops just fine, and everything functions, including the EPB, etc.

Like I previously said, you can't even talk about anything comparable at that price point.
PARTS ORDERED
x 4 PREMIUM OE Rotors
x 4 Sets CARBON CERAMIC Brake Pads
For
2014 Volkswagen Touareg All
330mm (12.99") Diameter Front Rotor
Subtotal:
$311.98

Savage you already admitted that you messed up using cheap parts. Quit being a lil bitch.

Don't be scared of it... just follow the process instead of jumping the gun "because you know what you're doing"..... learn from my pissing around.... it's not fun doing it the way I did.

If you need any assistance, I'll be around.
I have a VW Touareg AWD, 2009. I've had brake pads and rotors replaced on my Touareg twice in two years! I'm not happy about that, plus my Touareg still doesn't stop the way it should? Sometimes, I have to pump the brake pedal a little, before the brakes get hard? I've checked the brake reservoir, and added brake fluid. Should I get the brakes bled, or is this a caliper issue? Also, while I'm driving, the frame/ body of my Touareg squeaks rather loudly? Could this mean the rubber seals require lubrication? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Greg,

I’m a Touareg brake parts specialist now 18 years… give me a call and I’d be happy to review your specific situation and issues and offer suggested avenues of best repair. I’ve helped over 3,100 other Touaregs to replace brakes, so I think we can muddle thru…

That sounds like a self-appointed title. 🤔 they’re brakes, just get OEM parts and it’s fine. No specialists needed.

But since we’re on the topic of titles, I’m a root beer specialist of 23+ years. Ask me anything.

I'd say there's PLENTY of pros that don't know squat about brakes, much less the technical depth q power has on them.
