Is anyone able to tell me the dimensions of the 2 o rings located on the cooling pipes that secure to the water cooled alternator on a 2006 3.00lt TDI with BKS engine. I have had to disconnect to change the starter motor and it would be preferable to change them. Unlikely VW dealer would have them in stock but if I know the size a hydraulic supply store should have them.

I couldn't find sizes of the O-rings but I did find a thread that mentions a part # for the alternator O-rings (post #3) for a 2008 4.2 V8 motor. I'm wondering if the water cooled alternators all use the same size for the O-ring(s) and the connecting cooling lines.
The only other option, if no one else lists the size, would be to take them to a local auto parts store and have them match them up.

What's the alternator PN?
Probably 13.1x1.6mm..... but don't you already have the ones you've removed to measure? 
Calling a dealer would also give you the size... even if they don't have stock, they can tell you the size.

I have not removed the o rings in case they have to be reused. Found on google coolant pipe O rings part #7L0422999. They are 13mm od X 9 mm I'd which from memory looks about right. I will confirm with VW dealer.

Isn't that quite a thick O-ring?

Checked with be dealer today. Yes as suggested they are 13.1 x 1.6 mm. ordered 2 from them today. If someone interested I have the part number that I can post later as it is not in my hands at present.
