Hi Lifecrane and welcome to Club Touareg.
Add your Custom Signature in your profile settings to include your Touareg year, engine and any other info you care to. Then it will show up in your posts, like most of us have.
Do you plan on your Touareg being a daily driver, off-roader, or ?
Looking forward to seeing a few photos of your Touareg.

Hi,

Just got delivered,
I have 2005 Santa fe w 230k miles , that has given me headaches , so this is like weekend car , just making sure I don't go without , im case of another car mageddon as I call it. :) . It has 117k, but I am used to old Asians cars that are easy on maintenance , hopefully don't get discouraged w German engineering 🙂.

I just need to get the back plastic trim of wheel, and troubleshoot the fuel pump , I think , for code reader error P2294 .

So far I am happy, brought my compressor to fill tires while battery charging , and realized german folks even inc a mini compressor in the tire kit... Cool !

pretty Touareg!

Touaregs are NOT like any other vehicles. It is a challenge to find an experienced and knowledgable Touareg mechanic - even at VW Dealers. You should interview mechanics to be sure they know Touaregs - most dont. Dealers will pretend they do because their techs “can look up videos” (this seriously happened to me For a headlight bulb replacement! Which ended up being incorrectly done!!!). Locate a Touareg mechanic before you need one.
Buy a Ross Tech VCDS and learn how to use it. It requires a laptop, so if you dont have one get a small one to keep in the Vehicle.
Touaregs are expensive to maintain - do not skimp. Touaregs are very expensive to repair. Parts in USA are not always available new.

You're lucky on the air compressor as they are usually "borrowed" prior to a Treg being re-sold.

I have functional disability , but I still like to try solving problems . When I was healthy , I bought a manual and took apart a Honda engine all the way , then put it back together .. and it stopped after 100k miles .. this was due to timing belt that broke (I did not know better ) , but no valves were damaged , so for 400 bucks I fixed that mistake, l w my labor of course.

Since then I fix most stuff , I am just not fast as I used to , and once in a while , I will call mechanic to do stuff above my energy levels . But tx for your hints, yes, I can see Touareg is quite special , just heading to store soon, to buy a set of torx drivers, that seem to fit in majority of bolt heads that touareg has .Since I heard do many great things about towing w it, I started to look into camper on eBay and auction sites w less or around 3,000 lbs , to have some fun..

Software ATM seems a bit too much , so i try to get by w code reader , but yes.. unless I find one w live data steam compatible w Volkswagen , it's cheaper to buy vcds..

This reader seems to provide live data stream , and to be compatible ... Anyone mind sharing if they have

Lifecrane - The #1 “tool” to buy is the Ross Tech VCDS. It is the #1 investment toward keeping your Touareg running AND can get you running again if you get stuck with a “countdown”

Reading Club Touareg Forum you will see the #1 thing to post when you need a hand is your VCDS Scan - not any other scan tool scan. And if someone posts their non-VCDS scan the most common assistance from club members is Post a VCDS Scan. Also, when “sh—stuff” happens away from home your VCDS will aid you in getting home. Club Members who enjoy adventures recommend keeping a small laptop in the Touareg along with the VCDS

Vagcom. That piece of **** you listed will not work for a code reader

What about liquid to mix to clean injectors and co? I have good experience w seafoam , and lacquer thinner ...

🙄 Tx 😂🤣
Injectors mounted or dismounted? Mounted use diesel purge

I use Chevron Techron. Goes right in the gas tank.
Not necessary that often as long as you use "Top Tier" fuel.

Seafoam got my Santa fe from serious bronchitis attack , to purring like a cat .. provided that I needed to change spark plugs and wires , heck , the carbon was too much , and sea foam twice on 1/4 gas tank , followed by a gallon of laqquer thinner on 1/2 tank of gas, did finalized the deal .

The old school folks told me they use 1/4 ATF on 1/2 gas tank every once in a while , after I also saw that online , to keep everything running smooth , and I did that too , but since I had already done the seam foam and thinner laqquer potion , I can't verify the efficiency of that by myself.

Seafoam down the intake works 100x better than in the gas tank

Tx for that , you gave me an idea for tomorrow .. I think my high pressure pump is messed up , or my filter clogged , so while I white for the parts to arrive , might as well try that , w mist bottle ... Any hints on application ? I just added a seam bottle to the tank that is 1/4 full, and octane booster to let it stay over night , but might as well try that ..
