Hello,
I bought a 2005 V6 TDI Touareg that had slipped a timing chain. Thankfully we fixed that and the engine and transmission now run great. Unfortunately there is an issue with the ABS module, it doesn't communicate in any way with other modules or diagnostics. There is a BRAKE FAULT STOP VEHICLE warning light on the dash screen.
It smells like some bad connection because there was one evening I drove the car where the ABS seemingly came back to life, speedometer came back, A/C started working (weird, right?) and pretty much everything else that was wrong with the car was fine. That hasn't happened since.
I read about the wiring harness under the driver seat and false pedal, I took the carpet off and inspected the joins, all were flawless and no sign of water was found.
I checked all 3 fuses related to the ABS module and they are all fine.
I checked the relay 433 under the driver seat, took it off and lost power to the TCM and AWD modules, so it is working correctly.
I checked the pins on the ABS module plug, tested 12V and Ground with the multimeter, both present. CAN LOW was ~2.3V and CAN HIGH was ~2.7V. Maybe I should test with a test lamp the power.
The two big power pins I tested are always powered, should I also look for an ignition pin?
I got another ABS module from a V10 TDI and hooked it up today, no change.
I have downloaded everything available for the car from VW erWin, but I really have a hard time finding the issue.
Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can shed some light on this.
