Hello All - Looking for some guidance.

This past weekend, I started to receive an exhaust smell inside the cabin after an early morning cold start. After driving for approx 30 mins, I noticed the smell was not dissipating so had to open the windows. Not good when I have two young kids in the back. When I arrived home I noticed a small oil leak on the driveway which was there from the night before.

This is a 2012 with 220,000 km, I had all the emissions work completed. I don't have any CEL displayed on the dash. Hoping this is not a turbo issue but don't feel any lag.

Any thoughts ?

Check your DPF stats, and when your last regen was, etc.
If you were in stop-and-go traffic or moving slowly for extended periods of time, you could've been in the middle of an active regen. I sometimes smell mine if the conditions are right, but it doesn't necessarily mean there's a leak\issue.

Depending on what VCDS tells you, you may need to crawl under it with an inspection mirror to start checking for exhaust leaks.

Could be many things. Vcds may help here but not always

Forgive me please because I am merely a Touareg lover with almost no mechanic skills, but my understanding is that the faulting glow plugs mean the cylinder leaks unburned diesel into the exhaust system (?) until it gets warm enough to fire properly (?). Maybe you are having similar issues with unburned diesel in your engine?
IMO, if you don't have mechanical knowledge, you should refrain from repeating stories that you can't even understand..... And from diagnosing others who "may have similar issues"....
