parking brake failure - 2015 7P Touareg 150 TDI - resolved

Hello Folks,

It seems my Touareg parking brake failed. dashboard has the parking brake error. and i could not release parking brake.

Let me try to replace the switch first. Many thanks again for your great help. I was so frustrated yesterday that I could not move the car at all with this stupid parking error.

Sorry mate, I'm currently shovelling my driveway in freezing rain/sleet... check your wiring diagrams, check any related fuses, get your DVOM and test light out and check wires and circuits! Or just replace the switch and see if you get lucky, and if not, go do all the troubleshooting that you skipped.

Sorry for the late response and I was so busy to dry my soaking wet floor carpet caused by open window in a pouring rain night.

I have taken out parking brake switch and i ordered one online based on the part number. Finger crossed it could fix this issue at least.

Why don't you test the old switch and see if it works first??

update:

ok. new parking brake switch replacement is done.

Good news:

Parking brake switch is working fine now. it can pull brake and release brake without problem.
My car can move around finally.

Bad news:

The warning is still on dashboard and i was wondering if it would require some coding for the replacement.

I tried to clear error too many times. Except no basic settings error. another error will pop up later. which is like below

0025 - No calibration
B2010 F0 [009] - Deviation from expected range.

It is a bit late in Sydney now and I will scan tomorrow and post the latest one.

Thanks again for your help. Basically, the big headache is gone. just have to deal with this annoying warning.

I don't understand the approach.
The error tells you that you're missing BASIC SETTINGS...... how are you translating that into CLEAR THE CODE?
There's a BASIC SETTING button in VCDS.... did you go in there and go through the process?

You must use VCDS and complete a basic setting, which means the parking brake is functioned a few cycles by the software and it will tell you the shoes gap. If it’s 1.9 - 2.3 air gap and not 0.15mm difference between both sides then you will be able to clear the codes. you can’t clear the codes if the basic setting is not complete. Adjust the shoes and repeat basic setting cycles until it says “basic setting complete.”
Grind in procedure is a whole different ball game and is only needed when the disc/drum/ shoes and adjusters are replaced or moved.

Thanks for putting me in the right direction. I looked basic setting after i saw the error code of no basic setting while i did not have any clue how to do it.

Is there any wiki or guide i could follow in my scenario - parking brake switch is replaced?

update:
I google searched and if this one would apply to my situation?
