So I have read a lot of posts on here with overlapping key fob issues. Had a tricky one so I wanted to share the insights.
-- The original key got briefly washed in the ocean. Dried it out and it worked intermittently.
-- The backup key (which I was told was original) also worked only intermittently.
-- An electrical mechanic and a locksmith both thought it was the sensor, since two keys had the same issue.
As it turns out:
-- the main key just needed the corrosion cleared off of it (locksmith was able to do it)
-- second key was just a bad replica and didn't work, it was just a coincidence that the end result. was similar to above
-- and then some of the intermittent misfires were do to all the locks needing WD-40 ... that one was really interesting. It wasn't electrical at all ... but it was yet a third symptom that looked the same as the others but was just due to resistance.
Anyways avoided a new $200 key so I wanted to share
