Hi I'm looking at this part number here
7L6521102Q for a hanger bearing . Everything looks the same apart from the letter on the end. Does anyone know what the number is for or represents

If you mean the suffix letter Q it usually indicates an updated part or a change in supplier.

Alternatively, if your centre bearing rubber has let go look at The Jimi Fix spelt exactly as written.

It originated in the Cayenne world, takes half an hour, costs nothing and works very well!

Thanks for the Info. I wonder how many people have done it

The Jimi Fix works and lasts, and quite a few owners have used it.

You can also use the Viagra Fix which is tidier.

These are fixes for the centre bearing on the main prop shaft which US owners call the drive shaft.

A drive shaft for me is the shaft connecting a driven wheel to the differential in the axle!

That info is brilliant. I'm looking at another propshaft as a spare. The part numbers are the same but the letter at the end differs . Does that matter at all ?

Brand new shafts from VW have three zeros after the first number pricewise, but rhey have been out of production for a while.

Buying a reconditioned shaft could be a safer bet than reconditioning one yourself since we don't know how good a spannerman you are!

You haven't said which Touareg you have.

Just be aware that the R5 and the V10 have a different prop shaft length to the V6s.

I'm a mechanic for a living have 22 years in the job at ford and VW audi. What I can say about the Touaregs is techs didn't get to work on them it was licence techs which are over master techs and get paid tonnes of money . We never got a sniff at these. I worked on the beetles , Passats, golfs, scirocco etc .At ford I worked on every model right up to master tech level in the Uk before moving to new Zealand . I was also an mot tester as well . I was due to sit my masters but ended up moving to new Zealand . Then covid hit and my masters got put on the back burner .
