It's a thread literally about getting a series of dyno runs to make comparisons pre and post tune. I suggested a top tier professional who's at least somewhat local. Dyno numbers are limited, yes, but useful under specific circumstances. Track times also have complications but are more representative on average. Depends on how much strain an individual wants to put on their vehicle. I feel both is best; dyno tune and track results. Not everyone has the resources to accommodate that approach.
You're right. I misread the reply.

I can tell you, after driving various cars for over 36 years, my stage 2 tuned, dpf and cat deleted '13 Treg TDI is an absolute blast to drive. And it's much, much better than stock in so many ways. I had 3 DEF tank heater replacements in under 2 years. No issues at all since deleting except for a bad glow plug.

If you're thinking of doing it, do it! You will not regret.

Still trying to find an AWD dyno nearer to me than 35 miles. I contacted a few, but they do not do dyno tuning anymore...Maybe they should update their websites or at least check their own websites. Sheesh..
But I think tomorrow I will call a couple of the "long drive away" places and get pricing, schedule an afternoon off from work next week and just get it done.
I have the new Stage 2 tune already loaded into the Flashzilla box, but I want the stock dyno run done first before flashing.

You aren't Dyno tuning, you're getting dynoed

Hijacking post....
Have you noticed an mpg increase at all?
Any change you've noticed or logged your EGTs pre-post delete?
Did you retain the rest of the of the exhaust and DP? Or did you also drop the pre-cat?

That's why I'm asking.... I don't want to jump to conclusions.... you have a larger cold & hot side now.... you've shifted the powerband and efficiency island, even if slightly..... you've reduced backpressure, IATs and EGTs.... depending on your hwy speed, you could be doing the 100kph legal limit ~1575 rpm or 140kph traffic flow limit ~2200 rpm.... all factors no?

Although, based on your FE, I'd suspect you're near the legal limit as otherwise the drag would strip off the rest of your gains.

Regardless, it's nice to know that FE can be had if you stay out of it.....

around 120km/h indeed, maybe a bit under 2000RPM. The fuel consumption would be higher at higher speed; but I would expect the fuel savings to be offset and not wipeout.

The rawteck stuff is 3in VS 2.5in stock. Buzzken is 2.5in; not sure how it affect the backpressure.
I did not perceived a shift in turbo spool RPM with the turbo upgrade, but I suspect that the drop in backpressure of the downpipe & DPF offset the turbine/compressor change. Still around
1900-2000RPM.

I would expect the same turbo to spool a bit earlier with the downpipe & DPF upgrade. the comparison has to be made with the same baseline (from stage 2 to stage 2 with delete) and not from stock to stage 2 with delete.

OEM gear ratios and wheel size would put you at 1900rpm @ 120kph, so I doubt there's any reason to suspect any turbo deficiency at those rpm and load values when "cruising"..... how clean and lean the tune is at that point on the map is probably the largest contributor to the whole FE thing.

Your not kidding my 12 has been tuned and deleted for 6 years and i love it...things so fun and sounds amazing......just got my 14 ...4 months ago and currently i cant stand it...so laggy and dead, throttle response is so lazy and soft....my 12 is a total rocket off the line and so responsive.

Cant wait for the 14 to be done i honestly dont even drive it currently because after 6 years in the 12 the 14 is so lame it breaks my heart to try and enjoy it when its so neutered

I gave up on the idea of some dyno time. Got some responses "we aren't setup for diesel vehicles"...... If anyone knows a shop with a dyno that does diesel somewhere near central Connecticut, let me know. Not going to drive 100 miles to go to one though.

Ok. So I went ahead and flashed the Stage 2. Took 16 minutes after booting the Flashzilla. Very straightforward, easy to do. Sat down for about 18 minutes in the car to install it, and except for some dash Christmas lights near the beginning (expected), it was uneventful.

It definitely has more "push" up to about 50mph, any time I accelerate. I can tell there's more on the bottom. On the highway really not noticing a lot more there, but I'm not pressing it anyway.

I think the tune actually smoothed out some small throttle behaviors. It's a cleaner acceleration and shift (I did do a transmission reset as well). Looking forward to my first full tank of diesel so I can do a comparative fuel economy mileage test. Not going to drive any different than I do now. Even a modest 2 mpg would be welcome.

UPDATE on the Stage 2 Malone tune:

I had three instances last year (while tuned with the Stage 2 no deletes) I had the engine fault lamp turn on, when towing my toy hauler (5000+ pounds), some EGT Sensor Bank 1 codes, DPF codes, and torque reduction messages in VDCS. Each time, clearing the DTC's and errors, resulted in no issues when not towing. The Touareg did not behave any differently as far as I could tell.
After a few months of procrastination, I finally contacted Malone/Tunezilla, and they sent me a Stage 1 tune (no charge). I promptly have flashed to Stage 1, so I will see how it goes this Summer when towing begins again. I was told the tunes do increase EGT's. and Stage 1 shouldn't give me any more errors. They don't recommend Stage 2 when towing.

Yeah, Malone literally just updated their website very recently to say to not tow in stage 2 tuning. What a bunch of bullshit. That said, I've towed several different loads for many years in stage 2 and never had an issue. I'm guessing within the past couple years Malone revised their stage two to be more aggressive or something because I never had check engine light issues when towing.

EGTzzzz are just a number... who cares! (I've only been barking about them forever.....) :p
I give you a lot of props dude, you were way ahead of your time on calling this one out! It's just funny how malones tune, I mean figuratively not literally, actually both I guess, are constantly changing on this topic with the 3.0 TDI. I mean it's not like the 3.0 hasn't been around for 13 years or anything... Why the hell are we still apparently learning how to tune it properly?
