^your theory of 'eh don't give the pump special treatment, let it die and have the dealership replace it' is fine and dandy, unless the pump waits until you're just out of warranty period to finally take a dump due to simply not using a fuel additive

HPFP either fails early because it's not lubricated enough or you're talking out of your... hat You can't have it both ways. Normal lifespan on a HPFP is 100K miles. Proposing everyone treat their fuel system and only use special sauce Diesel to avoid failures at 80K miles loses all meaning if you say not doing it will cause your pump to last 121K miles.

Rofl 100k miles is what they're rated to huh? Can you show me where Bosch or Volkswagen states that? Because there are a lot a lot a lot of 3.0 tdi around the universe with well over 100k miles and original pumps.

3.0 tdi in North America tend to have pump issues (all of something like 3% of all sold or something stupidly low....) because North American diesel sucks ass compared to the rest of the world's.

There's alot of engines with 200K miles on a timing belt too, but no one will say that's a good idea. Saying people do stupid things doesn't mean they're a good idea.

If you want to stick with just Bosch and VW documentation, what do they say about the issue? That it doesn't exist? What fuel lubricant to do they recommend? How often do they recommend using it? What fuel do they recommend using? Brand? Location?

Literally the first result for "Bosch CP4 replacement interval":Bosch CP4 High-Pressure Fuel Injection Pump Failure Lawsuit

It's disingenuous to push extreme measures- specific fuel brands from specific locations with a specific traffic profile, while maintaining a certain minimum tank fill- and some nebulous requirement for fuel lubricant that no post has ever come to agreement on- for a 3% failure rate. There's no evidence to link fuel use to pump failure. It's all conjecture. To further claim doing the same things which supposedly cause early pump failure also cause failure at 121K miles is ridiculous. It's not logical. Either the issues you claim cause early HPFP failure or they don't- it can't be both.
Another point is VW does not recommend any fuel lubricity additive for Diesels in NA.

Your extraordinary claims require evidence.

If you intend to ever tow anything larger than a lawnmower or jet ski, get the TDI, and don't look back. Its worth the wait, especially the 15-16 with the big turbo (also applies to the '14 R-line TDI, which got the 240hp). The VR6 version is realistically selling for nearly HALF of the TDI prices, and there is a reason why. There are cures to the very few shortcomings of the the 7P Touareg (including Android Auto). I drove a pile of Touaregs before buying ours ('16 LUX TDI). If you're on the fence, test drive one. Accelerate up to 25-40 mph. Stomp the gas and count one-onethousand two-onetholycrapthisthinghasballs! Then go back to the dealership and sign the papers.

$27k seems cheap. Good luck

Looking at a 2015 LUX with 55k miles. Looks well treated and very clean. It was a little pokey on the test drive. I had to mash the gas pedal to get it up and going (not use to that as my other cars have more uuumph). Carfax looked good. They are firm at $29,999. Also, all the ads show a 10/100k drive train warranty but that does not cover the engine and transmission completely right? That is the settlement warranty with VW or did these come with a better warranty? Taking it in for a PPI tomorrow. I hope it is clean.

They have 225 horsepower and weigh 5000 lb, don't get your hopes up.

A transmission relearn will definitely help the drive ability significantly though.

A 10/100k powertrain warranty covers, well, the powertrain. The transmission and engine is part of the powertrain.

Thanks for your 2 cents. A 2015 is 240hp. I can't find anything in writing that states the 10/100 covers the transmission & engine, just the extended emissions warranty that does not cover the transmission and only some of the engine.

The TDi warranty covers nearly the entire powertrain. Where are you looking to find your info? The "lack of uuumph" you describe is nothing of the sort. The turbo on the CNRB 3.0 engine is larger (hence the 240hp vs 225). It takes a second to spool up. Try that mashing the "gas" (diesel) pedal from 50mph & you'll have a whole new appreciation. These things are very good for making big cars into tiny ones in the rear-view mirror on the highway. I have on occasion gotten the overspeed warning when towing my 6000#+ camper due to the incredible power this thing makes on the highway. I have a 2016 TDi LUX. Its awesome. I'm never selling this car, and if it gets wrecked I'll buy one just like it to replace.

Let me get the straight, you are asking if a 10 year 100,000 mi powertrain warranty covers the powertrain? Go to Google and ask what the definition of a powertrain is.

240 horsepower, 15 horsepower more than I previously stated My bad. My point still stands. 240 horsepower, 5,000 lb car. No good for speed.

In case you really don't know what a powertrain is in a powertrain warranty

You're correct, it should be easy to Google, but this is the closest I came:

What warranties does VW offer on new cars?
Although there are a variety of plans available to extend coverage on your new car, Volkswagen also offers an impressive standard warranty to ensure your vehicle will live up to your expectations. Every new Volkswagen model has a basic limited warranty* of 3 years/36,000 miles with roadside assistance, a powertrain warranty of 5 years/60,000 miles (10 years/100,000 miles for base trim Touareg) and corrosion perforation for 12 years/120,000 miles.

Maybe I will just call a dealer?

Every late model Touareg gets 10-year 100,000 mile. Why is this confusing?
