DCTouareg2019 . Sorry for delayed response, although I want a spare launch edition I really want same tyre as I have so I can do a 5 Tyre rotation

I'm looking to purchase a set of 4 x 20" Braga Launch Edition wheels. (Wheels only). I only need one as a full size spare, so who would be interested in purchasing a single spare wheel? Will have 3 to sell? I just need one interested party to pull the trigger.

I have one 20" Launch Edition Braga Rim as new for sale and will give a good price to a community member. A must have rare item for those wanting a full size spare! PM me for details! Or you can purchase through your VW service centre for $1595

Hello,

After getting my first puncture and having the use the temporary spare I intend to buy a full time spare. I have found a set of the original wheels with tyres for sale and only really want one. If I purchase the set of 4 is anyone with the new model interested in buying one of the other wheels?

Message me if you are interested.
Hi Fella, I also have just picked up a launch edition and would be interested in a full size spare. grant_b@hotmail.com

For those with a full size spare. You may be interested in an easy project to build up the floor by 120mm to accommodate the spare without loosing too much boot space...
Brilliant. This looks very practical. I guess the tool insert from the space-saver fits the full-sized rim the same as the space-saver. Did you build this yourself? Are you still able to utilise the net behind the back seats? What impact on tow ball weight?

1. The tool insert fits snug into full size spare

2. Yes it was a DIY project. I used plywood to build the frame double laminating 2 x 12mm plywood, glued and screwed and pray painted black. I used 25mm x 6mm double sided strip for contact with car plastics and original removable cover and finally stapled car carpet to suit.

3. I haven't tried installing the net divider. It might still fit it you install first before dropping in the new spare wheel frame (which is easy to do).

4. Depends if you've got passengers or not... 😉. I weighed the full size spare in at 33Kg but haven't weighed the original spare. Without doing so, at a guess it would be
Full size spare - 33Kg
Timber frame - 5Kg (estimated)
(Less original spare - 25Kg estimated)
Total Estimate additional weight over axle - 13Kg

Hope this helps...

That’s brilliant. A great solution. I’ve organised a spare wheel bracket for my caravan so now I should be able to carry two spares with little impact on the overall weight of the car. Boot size is so vast in Touareg. It looks like little impact on boot space.

Also I used an M8 x 120 bolt with a large square washer to bolt spare wheel to floor using existing fixing point. You do have to do a bit of wiggling the spare into position to align wheel nut hole over thread in boot floor perfectly so that thread seats correctly. The hex wheel nut socket in car tool kit has the correct M8 hex socket at opposite end perfect for tightening the spare to the floor without need to carry another tool and ensures the spare doesn't move.

I haven’t looked at the spare compartment very closely. Was it a fairly straightforward process to remove the cover? I am thinking that it could be a weight-saving proposition for me when travelling to just remove the cover and bolt my spare to the well. I could leave the cover off to save the weight of the cover. Not a big deal to have the wheel sitting there above the boot floor.

The cover is dead easy to remove. Simply grab handle and lift/tilt the cover up say 15 deg on the hinge and the pull cover towards you. The cover will "unlatch" itself from the slide-in hinge system. Once unlatched, you can then lift the cover out of the boot. reverse procedure to inset back into position.
