I use them and have used them in many different cars over the years. You are going to get people come on here and tell you they are bad for the MAF and will destroy it. I have not lost one yet on any car I have had them in. For me it is not so much about the performance gain which is negligable, I like them more from a convience stand point in that I only buy one filter. Issue can run into is if you don't follow the directions with cleaning it and reoiling it. If you adhere to the directions you will be fine and the last filter you will ever buy. I personally go a little overkill when I clean/reoil mine in that after it is cleaned I let it dry for 12 or more hours, then after I reoil I let it sit for another 12 or more hours and wipe off all excess oil before reinstalling. I have a paper filter I use just for the cleaning process.

If that is your main reason for getting them, then you may be disappointed since you have the V8. You may notice a difference at first since they will be clean where your current ones may be dirty, but I would not soley buy them for that purpose since you won't see a huge difference imo.

Just trying to figure out way to improve gas mileage... I know its the V8 and I should expect the consumption at around 14 M/Gal.... however I will think some Mods or similar upgrades would do that.

i have to say that K&N filters are not bad filters like people make them out to be. their materials are cheap looking when stared upon... but i have never had troubles with them my self so.. its not all that bad as they might look.

i have had troubles with my mercedes with K&N filter but thats was because i over oiled them and the oil got on the MAF. like the above reply states let it dry then its all good.

advantages of K&N filter would be throttle sound... and honestly perhaps a bit at the higher end of the rpm since its easier for the engine to suck air in. but in day to day driving... i think all filters are made to suck similar amounts of air in those rpm ranges so not worth buying if thats what you are going for.

K&N filters are not cheap nor LOOK cheap. We use the same type material from another companmy on our helicopter filtration systems (AES). And not all filters are the same....you have to look at the micron rating. That affects the CFM and filtration. And on that note..I have had my K&Ns on my V8 since the day I bought it. I have 74K miles on it now and have had ZERO problems. People who post crap just want to hear themselves talk. :p

of course they are good as they say they are because they are used in WRC rally cars and such. but what i was saying is from a naked eye at a glance with no knowledge compared to the other filters out there. honestly, the black rubber casing around the filter is bit messy in construction, sometimes it comes drenched in oil, filter is alot thinner than others especially stock ones. these were some of the things that i was pointing towards.

i believe in K&N filters with their reusability and the possible benefits it may bring... but i was just comparing merely filter to filter at first glance to Bosch, Green Filter, ITG, AEM, HKS filters.

Actually, K&N uses nothing like the elements on the brands you listed. Those are either foam or paper. I think I would go with a filter that protects a $500K engine with a 99.9% reliability record (.1% due to human error) in my VW....lol. Just me. :)
