Hi all, am heading out to a mates farm soon, will have to cross a creek twice in the 2km from the gate to the
house. I think from that debacle they call an instruction manual the wading depth is 550mm at maximum height.
Looking under the bonnet the alternator seems very low. Has anyone had experience with water and this model?
Thanks in advance
Wayne

have you considered a tarp if you are not sure ? ... Old school has been around for as long as well maybe the mid 1900's and works a treat !!!

You just need to practice entry ... speed ... momentum ... traction ... steering if its big bouldery stuff ( i doubt it woudl be if you are going to the farm) ... more momentum etc etc ....

Plenty of stuff on the net if you want to play with water but a tarp is a good start together with speed ... momentum ... traction ... etc etc

Learn the way and that way will love you ;)

I have made the trip many times in Landcruisers, dual cab utes etc that were dedicated 4x4 vehicles. The Touareg being more of an allrounder and me not being a hardcore off roader should be a good fit. I guess VW would not quote 550mm wading depth if the alternator, battery box and other low stuff will fill with water but just standing back and having a look it would be close. If the creek is full and running hard i will delay my trip. I am just wondering if anyone has had one in the water yet.

just bare in mind the tarp when used correctly acts as a bow wave affectively lowering the water level where your concerned items are located .. this was the point being made... something to consider

Oh those Russians, not sure whether its a big set or nothing between the ears. At the end of the day I guess you have to get from one side to the other.
