Is there such a thing as a TDI (any version of the Touareg) without a Pano roof? Or were they standard?

Depends on the country market - in the UK, the "base" SE model didn't get the panoramic sunroof but it was available as an extra-cost option - but the SE only accounted for 5% of sales in the UK.

Thanks for the info. We've been looking at 2012-2016 TDi's in the Southwest US and they all have that pano roof. My wife says she doesn't like the roof with the 'dirty t-shirt cover'. I sort of agree. Was hoping a regular solid roof was out there but it seems probably not.

In the US, Sport trim did not have Pano. Lux and Exec did, as well as other trims above Lux. So if you specifically don't want a Pano roof on a 7P Treg, you want to look for a Touareg Sport.

The helps. I've only seen Lux and Executive models so far but will be on the lookout for Sport TDi versions. Thank you.

The dirty t-shirt cover isn't even seen when you keep it open. The sport is bare bones, FYI

Just look out the windows and dont stare at the ceiling. If pano roof is the only reason you havent gotten a Touareg yet please consider the look, feel, power and reliability of a Touareg are #1 for on and off road enjoyment.

Sport w/Nav has some decent options and no Pano roof. Just a couple options aren't available, Leather seats and Exec/Hybrid specific features off the top of my head. I think finding a fully-optioned Sport w/Nav would be a bit of a unicorn though.

Alot of people don't even notice it, even with the shade open. Fun to watch their reaction when they do have occasion to notice though lol.
It is nice for those long drives where you need some fresh air but don't want the wind blast from the windows.
I didn't want a panno roof either, but got a great deal on my treg with one, and it's fine. I use it ever so often just to circulate a bit of air, and the kids like having the "t shirt" motored back to look out the roof.

I would have paid extra to get a non-sunroof version of the Lux, but nobody asked me. I find a notable difference in cabin noise with the sliding screen in place versus with it open. In extreme cold, the sunroof also makes it a good bit cooler inside. I open the sunroof at least once per year for fun, but I can't help but wonder what sort of useful things they could have done with the incremental cost of a sunroof. Headlight washers? Air suspension? T-case? It's a sad commentary on buyer's automotive preferences these days.

Wow this is wild. I drive with my pano wide open 24x7 except winter

Good point. I live in New York. A hot day is 80-85*, average summer day is probably ~78*. I had the pano open on the 90+ freak days we had but only if I wasn't dressed for work.
