Sounds good. Too loud for my taste, but that means nothing. It does sound good in a loud way!

Coincidently enough, an other member just emailed me his Borla exhaust soundtrack from his Egg V8. It is much quieter than yours. He is using Borla pro xs mufflers, although I'm not sure yet what other changes and alterations he made, if any at all. What kind of Borla mufflers are yours, and what other changes have you made if any?

Here is mine. The mufflers are Borla Pro XS, and fabricated in using my stock tips. 2004 Touareg, V8. No other mods to the exhaust. Cut in front of the stock muffler, then fabricated from there.

Total cost was $300 (Mufflers plus labor).

That sounds good Themacnut. Thanks.. Yes, I had Borla Pro XS, but had them take the Secondary Cats out. That would explain the extra noise. I just like things loud personally. They charged $680 for everything. (Plust $120 for tips) It was nice going to a Borla dealer cause they handled everything. Car is a lot lighter and feels faster. Yyou can buy cat bypass from fabspeed Fabspeed Motorsports: Porsche Cayenne/TT/S/VW/Touareg for $585 but my muffler guy just did it himself.

It sounds good, and with your secondary cat bypass and new mufflers, I am sure you are feeling that additional HP off the line. Very nice! :D

Ahhh you're the one! Glad to see you post here! ;)

As I posted in your old Vortex thread, that gskudlarick graciously brought back from the dead(and glad he did! :)) , I really REALLY like the sound on yours. Maybe it was the mood I was in, but it was like the best sounding Touareg I have ever heard in my life! Slightly louder and sportier than stock, but just as refined. Not taking anything away from yours gskudlarick! Just too loud for my 60 day old baby in the back seat. However I'm sure other members here who own V8 boats, will reminisce and love yours ;)

Only one thing remains within my curiosity. Maybe you two know? What does a Touareg V8 sound like that has had the secondary cat bypass done, but kept the OEM muffler on? I wonder what that sounds like compared to your two very different soundtracks up above?

Anyways. Thanks for all the help on this site. Would have never been able to do this with out it. I posted on uTube so I could hear on my Windows Machine with the loud sound system..My Mac's too quiet. Man.. they are loud w/o those 2nd cats. I'm going to have to let somebody drive by so I can hear it. LOL..
. Next purchase might be a chip if anyone has any ideas pls let me know. (I'd really like to put in some Headers but don't think anyone's made any for the Egg).

My motivation for the Borla install was a rattling stock muffler. So I would guess the answer would be loud and rattling. ;)
I finished toying around with mine earlier today. You know the usual kid in us stuff. Revving it up, with my head sticking out the window, etc. I was trying to pin point that so called rattling sound you were (and some others in the past) referring too, and I just couldn't
Do all model year V8 non-fsi Touaregs exhibit this sound?

Looks mean!! I like it!
I wonder how it would look with brushed aluminum Pepper side pillar thingys?

Rattle on the v8 model was in the muffler. You get a little valve noise at high rev as you can hear on my video. Other rattle area is some of the heat shielding under the car. Lots of posts on this issue as well.
