Hi all, so I've ran out of days for an oil change, but right before that I had 4500km left. Should I change the oil right away or can I still drive for 4500km?
Thanks.

2012 TDI

Also, if you're only changing the oil when the maximum change interval is over, you're not doing any favor for it. Because, as said, the 30.000 km / 2 years or 15.000 km / 1 years is the absolute maximum after you should change the oil, and not the ideal change interval.

Just completed an oil change on my 2013 TDI. Shop didn't know which filter as there are apparently 2 listed. The smaller/shorter one fits. The larger one won't fit!
Cheers and good luck.

Do you know the height of your filter, because I already ordered a 181mm filter and now I'm worried it won't fit lol.

Sorry Lazarusz, already binned. I actually bought both and returned the larger one.
200mm is way larger than the one that fitted mine.
Mine was in the vicinity of 150mm
Cheers

I'm a bit confused about this filter situation, why are there 200mm filters for my car if they don't fit?

Also can anyone tell me what oil filters do they have in their touaregs?

I had the same problem on my 2011 Touareg TDI. Amazon listed the shorter one for my car but when replacement time came it had the longer one. The longer one is on order and should be here shortly.
On another note, there's an old cogger on YouTube that shows how to's for Mercedes. He recommended a measure I thought clever which was to replace the oil filter mid cycle. I thought this clever and easy since the oil filter resides on top of the engine. I'm going to incorporate this discipline.

Do you mean that you'll replace the filter mid cycle as well as at the oil change?

Wait, so there are touaregs with different hole depths for the filter? What are your engine specs?

On line indicated that Hengst 19124XD was compatible with my 2011 Touareg TDI. When I removed the filter to change, I found that it was too short. The correct filter for my application is 057115561M, 057115561M is longer and has the dimple on the bottom

I've bought a shorter filter (128mm) and it has a dimple at the bottom, hopefully it fits.

The way I see it, the oil is recommended for 1 year and 10k miles (here in US), witch ever comes first.
This implies that the oil is still within specs if both condition are met simultaneously. However, if one is really far away from being met, I think the other condition can be extended. In other words, if 1+1=2, also 1.5+0.5=2
But of course, this is just what my intuition is telling me, I have no math or science to convert miles to months and vice-versa.
Can you go 2 years with almost zero miles or can you go 20k in a few days on one oil change ???? I would say no to both.
I would however go 1.5 years / 5K or 6 mo / 15k (if those miles were mostly long trips, with minimum cold starts, no towing, no racing, no excessive dust conditions)
