Wondering who may have had any luck in replacing your in-car entertainment system, along with the back-up camera? I’m in a 2016 Executive. The back-up camera is just crappy (my wife’s 2009 GMC Yukon SLT has a better camera... and remote start ??). It’s my 3rd VW and I have to say that I’ve never liked the in-car entertainment system (like a lot of others too I see).

Any specific brands, installation places you’ve used, tips, etc. are much appreciated!

So you have an executive Touareg with RNS-850 and Dynaudio? I've never really compared but how is the backup camera in the GMC better? I've driven lots of cars and never found a better backup camera system but I cannot say I've tried the GM version you bring to our attention. Also we never saw an answer to ovydiks as to what additional features you are looking for or where you feel the system is lacking ability and would like improvement.

Yes that would be it... sorry if I was unclear above in OP, but what I'm basically looking for is anyone that may have swapped out the OEM backup camera for a different one.

My wife's GMC Yukon camera is so much better than mine, it's not even funny. Mine seems to have refresh rate problem (stutters and slows down), while hers is very sharp, crisp, and fluid (almost like using a smartphone -- 60fps refresh rate). Also, her night visibility is outstanding compared to mine. I can't see half as much/as far as I can when I'm in hers backing up.

I've never had stutters and slow down where the image is not real time so I would consider asking your service department if it is normal while you are still in warranty. If they answer your concern is normal ask them to show you another Touareg on the lot exhibit the same behavior as yours. I've not experianced a car as new as yours but 2011, 2012, my Q7 is 2013 and I get clear and smooth images unless the camera is dirty. Your observation of night time performance is accurate I have noticed better images at night in other makes. This might be less about the camera and more about the amount of light being created by backup lights. The backup lights on my car are just not that bright compared to a lot of other vehicles IMO. Have you compared the brightness of your backup lights as a consideration? If not would you be willing to? Maybe it's something we can look at how to improve on our cars.

I was thinking about that with the reverse lights. I just seen a listing on AliExpress for some “wide” led reverse lights. Wonder if they would throw An error and how much difference they would really make. I know there has been discussion about reverse lights on here and some difficulty getting some to work.

You can adjust a lot of options for the reverse cam in the options-screen that comes up when reverse cam is activated. I adjusted the settings and its MUCH better than stock.
Our new TLX has a MUCH better quality cam when its light out, but the Touareg is significantly better when its dark out. Her car has LED's, my car is stock halogens.

Adidas - why do you have to program vagcom if you put led's into the reverse?

I will play with the reverse cam settings; I'm assuming you mainly adjusted the Brightness and Contrast sliders there?

Thanks adidas. I will try some out. Gonna have to search for some decent quality ones. That should help some for sure.
Yea Matt.. that’s the only adjustments there are. I believe contrary and color. Helps some but to me it’s still not great. Maybe some extra light would help.

Yes exactly. They dont make the camera great but they make it very good.

Where did you find that?

Install some LEDs and code them using VCDS. I did that and the result is wow.

I would like to replace my backup camera as well. The GM camera is much higher quality with HDMI level interface.
