Hello, I just test drove a 2014 3.0 TDI. It has had the emissions fix, I loved the vehicle just need to negotiate the price a little. I did notice on the trip computer that the average consumption said 16 mpg. I drove it for about 10 minutes or so and when we stopped it was at 18 mpg. Just wondering if this should be concerning. I have read that after the fix I should expect an approx. 3 mpg drop in consumption. Wondering if maybe something else is going on or if it would creep back up after more driving.

The mileage on my 2014 dropped about 2 mpg after the emissions mod. It averaged about 26 mpg before and was 24 mpg after, which is based on a mix of highway and suburban driving. The Touareg takes about 20 minutes to reach normal operating (oil) temp so short trips do kill the mileage. But mileage improves as you continue to drink more German beer, and goes even higher if you sing German drinking songs. Good luck with your negotiating.

Well with the amount of German Beer I drink it sounds liek I will get good mileage! Need to work on the songs.

I really want a Touareg, but have limited options here. I'm living in Germany and trying to buy a US spec version so I can bring it back with me. I'm currently torn between a 2014 TDI Lux ($19K) and a 2013 Gas Lux ($14K). Leaning more towards the TDI because I've heard such great things about the engines.

The car isn't even warmed up yet within a few miles.. the MPG meter averages your entire drive. If you're only driving it 5 miles, NO car car is going to instantly get their rated MPG.. you need to drive it.

The TDI is great but takes a lot more know-how and knowledge to own. There is a lot more to them.

the fix killed my mileage..cannot wait to get my deletes and tune back in

Picked it up today, after driving around most of the day (mix of City and Highway) I am averaging 23 mpg. Not too bad I guess. Once the emissions warranty is over I'll be looking to make some changes. I absolutely love the way the Touareg drives and feels. I'm coming from a TDI Golf and Touran.

Congrats on the new to you Treg diesel. I've got a '14 Exec TDI and love it. I remember years ago looking at Touaregs and thinking the price (new) was way out of line for the size of the vehicle, but now owning one I understand why they were priced the way they were.

I wish VW would bring the latest version back the North America. Even if it's priced just below the Q7, which I did consider when shopping for the Touareg, but after 4 different rattle-trap examples of Q7's that I drove, it was clear it didn't hold a candle to the Treg.
