My Treg (my14) started to drip oil on my return from my aborted Treg muster trip. The local Autohaus says its the the rear main seal, which involves a removal of both engine and gearbox, splitting the two then replacing bits and reassembly, and that it requires a special lift that only VW has. It's getting difficult to get an estimate of what it might cost as they need to diagnose it, and that starts at $195/ hr and no idea how long it might take, and I'm thinking that if the gear box is out, it may be a good time to change the oil since it has done a lot of van towing in that time. Any suggestions?
