Syrgii,
It would be difficult to mount another filter without some modification to the housing to accept a machined blank with has 2 ports for the remote filter assembly. Not impossible, but not for the average home user. Difficult because the filter housing is incorporated into the engine mounting.
Good idea though.

Installed my Stahlbus drain plug yesterday. Straightforward install. I was a little concerned about the number of thread turns that I was going to get because the threads are resessed pretty far in the filter housing. Got it in about three turns buy hand but then got another three maybe four with a 19mm wrench. Felt pretty confident with that and the EPDM o-ring in there.
The one thing that was kind of a bear was getting the deep well socket on to re-install. That power steering line really comes into play. That line really is in a bad spot not just for getting a socket on it, but for the removal of the filter and housing. I know I'm not the first person to realize this, just saying.
Anyway no leaks and very high quality part.
Just in case anybody wants a cheaper way out. My original fix of a 1/4" brass close nipple, 1/4" mnpt ball valve, and a 1/4" x 1/4" mnpt x barb worked great for sealing and the drain of the housing before I swapped to the Stahlbus. Only reason I did is so I could get the deep well socket on for removal and installation of the housing

Yeah I went back and looked at your pictures and saw you didn't have that issue. Regardless a little flexing of that line gets the socket in there. Now I can't wait to change my oil again!!!!

Important note: do check that the oil level sensor is working if you install this mod.
I found out my oil level sensor was not working. So if there is a major oil leak (due to this mod) when driving you will end up with a hosed engine !!
Simple way to check is to open the plug and drain the filter or drain a certain amount of oil through the normal drain plug and see if there is a low level warning on the dashboard. Another method is to use vcds and read the oil level measure block. if the measure block is blank then you need a new sensor.

I'm looking into adding a fumoto quick drain valve on the oil filter. i saw a video of the oil filter change and it looks messy. I even found a custom metalic filter cap here here: Audi / VW 6 and 8 Cylinder Billet Oil Filter Housing - Gruven Parts The only missing part is the quick drain valve :) Fumoto® USA | Quick and Easy Engine Oil Drain Valves This will probably require just an adaptor...
Hello. Thanks for the post. Are you thinking of eventually getting this metallic filter housing? It seems it may work with the Stahlbus hose draining assembly, since the threads on the plug are apparently the same dimensions as the sump plug on the Audi. I'm thinking of getting the metallic housing, since their website states it would fit on my '04 Touareg V6 :) Thanks again for your helpful thread!
