Sorry, search doesn't seem to be working.

I recently got my T3 and am wondering about the wiper/washer functionality. On my T2, a momentary pull of the wiper lever would result in about a 2 second spray and several wipes automatically. Same with the rear wiper. If I held the lever in the spray position, it would only spray as long as I held it. On my T3, it all seems manual. It only sprays while I hold the lever. Is there no automatic wash function anymore?

Also, with headlights on, I've sprayed and sprayed the front windshield (at least 7 times) and never seen the headlight washers function. The manual states they spray on the first and 5th pulls of the wiper lever.

Unlike T1, headlight washer cutout is a blank in NA markets.
Ok. Somebody now has a retrofit project. Both Jim and Myself will be waiting for it. Be sure to post lots of pictures for us. We like pictures. >:)

I drop the blame for this on Martin Winterkorn. His maximize profits at any cost edict still haunts the forum today. From his first major decision to use the EA-189, ending the Bluetec diesel cooperation with Daimler, all that followed was deceptions and decontenting.

Bumping for wiper/washer functionality. My T2 required only a pull for front or a push for rear and would run the washer pump for a few seconds and wipe several times automatically. T3 is all manual. Was this an intended change?

I found nothing in VCDS that resembles a wiper/washer function except tear drop wipe.

I was trying to get rid of the extra wipe when using the spray function of the front windshield wipers while in motion. I even had a member PM me on how to do it. Unfortunately disabling tear drop function in two places still produces that annoying extra wipe that occurs approx 5 seconds after the initial 3 wipes.

Has anyone figured out how to disable the extra wipe on T3's that does nothing but leave streak marks after the windshield is already cleaned?

Interesting. I thought the extra wipe was the best idea ever (for a wiper). On my previous car, I'd run the fluid, the wipers would wipe it off. Then a few seconds later, fluid which had dripped to the bottom of the windshield would blow up and I'd have to manually wipe again. The extra wipe on my T3 is perfect - it clears out the extra fluid which blows back up the windshield when I run it on the freeway. When I run it while stationary, the extra wipe clears off the fluid which drips down from above the wiper area.

I've applied Aquapel to the windshield (used to use RainX on my old car). So water mostly beads and runs off on its own. Good in the rain, but it also means the wiper fluid can drip down or blow up more easily. Maybe your problem is your windshield has lost its factory water-repellent coating? So the fluid never drips down or blows up, making the extra wipe useless for you? I've never had problems with streaking from the extra wipe either, as the repellent makes the wipers wipe clean.
