Love my Touareg. HPFPs are failing, dealer wants $1k to fix. Also need a rear differential because the previous owner probably believed they were sealed "for life" (I guess they were... to him).

Total cost is probably going to be around $2k. 118k miles. Time to let it go? Opinions?

Yikes. I hope you wouldn't let it go for only a $2K repair.

Unless you can't afford it, it's certainly worth repairing IMHO.

Go to a VW/Audi independent mechanic for a quote. You might be pleasantly surprised.

I'm pushing 180K miles and if faced with a $2K repair bill, I would have mine repaired and not look back. Sure beats buying new at $60K+

X2. 2K on a Touareg is a drop in the bucket, especially compared to a new one.

It's not the upfront cost to get it back on the road, it was my fear that it's nearing the end of its life. I'd like to see these things as the VW version of land cruisers-- worth it to fix more often than not.

I chose to keep it. Here's hoping it continues to give me good service.
