ROOF top kayak carrier......need help

Hi,

I'm looking to carry two kayaks on the roof of my Toureg. Currently I have no roof racks. Can anyone suggest what I need and where to buy them??

I would suggest going with a Thule rack. The stock Touareg racks are good, but a dedicated rack works better, especially for kayaks, and you can also mount a fairing to help with wind noise and gas mileage.

The Thule racks vs. the Yakimas look better(the red/black color scheme of the Yaks look Fisher-Price-y)and work better.

I have a Thule roof rack on mine, and it fits into the stock roof rails, locks, is super-stout, sleek, and works really well.

I would suggest looking into a rack specialty store, like a bike shop, or an REI or such. Good luck!

Whitewater kayaker here, and I've been using Thule products for over 15 years. I'm still using my original crossbars. Thule is unbeatable. Square bars (Thule) are better than round (Yakima) because implements easily rotate on the round bars.
