Well I know the engine has more power, seats are different. What I would like to know is if there are other more subtle mods that aren't as well known.:-

Is the gearbox programmed differently ?
Are the drive shafts bigger
Are the sway bars bigger?
Are the Shocks different?
Are they built at a different facility like the AMG mercs ?

Most write ups I see only seem to mention power upgrades, lower vehicle , flares and other body work.

Anyone with info I would appreciate your input.

I remember reading that the tranny was the unit but with some stronger parts.

as far as I know they are built at the same plant in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Not sure about mechanical components, but I suspect that the major components will be unchanged as their is sufficient capacity to deal with the extra power/torque. Software will almost certainly be different

Engine/drivetrain difference is just software.

New body panels all around, exclusive 20x10" wheels (which are available for $5100), and the suspension is lower and has a more aggressive "Sport" mode.

I priced out all of the components to build an R50 in the States and for parts alone, it would cost $11k. :(

Make that 21" Omanyt 10 spoke alloy wheels on 295 tires ;)

Like VDubfan wrote about a more aggressive suspension, in numerous articles concerning the R50 suspension, they make mention of a "sport tuned" air suspension. And then this:

"The car's extensive features also include an air suspension sport chassis: The so-called "Driving dynamics package with adaptive roll compensation" and chassis lowered by twenty millimeter supplements the "Sport" mode of the manually or automatically controlled air suspension by achieving a stiffer spring rate."

Does this mean it sits 20mm lower than our regular Touaregs equipped with the air suspension?

I now wonder if Spockat's VAG-COM lowering procedure of the air by 20mm is something similar to this?

Thanks for catching that.

I think the 20mm difference is due to different hardware on the suspension setup. I believe a similar set of hardware can be found here.

Here is the price list for my earlier post:
- 21x10" Omanyt wheels - $5100/set
- R50 door sills - $600/set
- Fender flare kit - $1350
- Front and rear bumpers - $2200/set
- Rear hatch spoiler - $950
- Matt aluminum grill - $625
- Suspension lowering kit - $325

All of these parts can be found on oemplus.com
