Hey ,just wondering if anyone else with a V6 TDI '09 can tell me about their idle rpm's. .. mine feels a little high at a little over 7500 RPM's ... feel a little push as i have my foot on the brake standing at a light... any thoughts... maybe i need an adjustment... its my first diesel so i was wondering..
thanks
John

I take it you mean 750 RPMs... 7500 might be painful to hear & watch.

Noticed mine also has some healthy RPMs & torque at idle. So much so that easing one's foot off the pedal will cause a pretty good lurch forward. Just took it as a diesel thing that needed a little getting used to. ;)

My 09 also idles at 750 RPM but no lurching when I let go of the brake pedal. It just roll forward like you would expect from any other car.

In hindsight, "lurching" may be an overstatement. But the vehicle will advance with brake release on anything but the steepest hill (or a loaded trailer in tow).

Mine too. It wants to go, not stop. Extended stops almost makes me want to put it in park as it seems that I keep pressing harder and harder on the brake to keep it still. I'm used to it now but I do think you could easily bump someone in front of you if you aren't careful.

Whoa, there Nellie. Whoa!

She wants to run . . .

750 on mine as well, but I don't think it is that hard to hold back at a light or anything. You guys must have some weak legs. ;)

Also 750 RPM at idle here. And she wants to go, as I can feel her pulling against the brakes. Does this have anything to do with the feature that keeps the Touareg from drifting backwards down a hill?

It originally was not available in high range before, but that is not to say they changed in on the ones we have now. We had to VAG it to get that feature on the earlier ones. Plus that uses brakes to hold you, so it would not fight the brakes by applying throttle.

Actually, I wonder if it might be an emissions thing.
