I’m about to begin upgrading my sound system, and I’m hoping someone can confirm that my thinking is correct.

I have the RNS2 with CD Nav, digital amp, and 11 speakers (option code 9VL, Sound System 2). I just purchased a Dynavin N6 head unit, and I would like to make it work with all 11 speakers. As far as I can tell, I have just three options:

1) Run new RCA wires from the Dynavin back to an aftermarket 12-channel amp, take speaker wires out of factory harness and connect to aftermarket amp. No new wiring to speakers needed.

2) Run new RCA wires from Dynavin back to aftermarket 5-channel amp, run new speaker wires from amp to aftermarket 3-way component speakers (w/crossovers) in each of the Treg’s four doors (and one to the centre dash speaker)

3) Replace my digital amp with a used factory analog amp, and run speaker wires from Dynavin back to it. Keep all amp-back wiring and speakers

It’s my understanding that, whatever I do, I’ll need to run new wires (RCA or speaker) from the head unit to whichever amp I choose because my current setup’s signal is just CAN+/CAN-).

Does this all seem right to you guys? Option #3 is most appealing because it would be the least expensive.

Probably. Very few head units work with the factory amp. If you look at my posts about upgrading the head unit, i and several others successfully upgraded to an android based navigation unit, which helped out alot.

I read through your earlier posts - so the canbus adapter that ultimately worked for you came with the Android head unit you bought? Or did you buy the canbus adapter separately?

It seems like all of the canbus adapters that have been talked about in past threads (e.g., Canshack, Conexx, "the German guy") as working with the digital amp/11-speaker setup are no longer available.

Does anyone know where I can find such an adapter?

Just a warning on the Can+/Can- connecting to the aftermarket, you can fry the VagCom/diagnostic tool at the local shops/dealers/personal device. K1 is a vicious little hell if that Can+/Can- line is active going into the aftermarket head unit.

Whaaaaa? So you're saying that if I can find an adapter (I'm looking at this one: https://www.suwtec.de/VW-T5-Touareg...pter-fuer-12-Kanal-Soundsystem-9VL-und-9VE-an-anderem-VW-oder-Aftermarket-Radio) and I use it, I can't ever use my Ross-tech HEX-v2 again?! That's a pretty big sacrifice...

Could you give me a little bit more info about this Can line/Vag-com issue? Is there a way to avoid this? Thanks so much for bringing it to my attention

marshatherton, the thing is that I've already purchased the Dynavin unit. I don't want to buy another head unit just so I can get the accompanying adapter. If I'm not mistaken, the only way to get the adapter that worked for you is to buy your head unit.

If any adapter that I buy separately is going to fry my Ross-Tech, then I'll just run new wires from the HU to a new amp.

The dynavin should have came with a canbus adapter.... Now does it work independently? I don't know. I just hooked up my canshack adapter for a quick install. So I'm actually using two adapters...

So you could try it with the adapter and see if it works.

The Dynavin unit was delivered today, so I'll plug it in when I get home from work and post the results. At the very least it should provide some good info for future digital amp people looking at the Dynavin N6.

Thank for your help guys

Using the included Dynavin CAN adapter, the unit powers up, lights up with headlights, volume buttons work, no track name in MFI, excellent sound from front speakers only. No sound whatsoever from the rear speakers. I don't care about the MFI track info, but I ain't gonna live without rear speakers...

Spoke too soon. Found "OEM DSP AMP" toggle in the unit's Sound menu. All speakers work. Beer time.
This is what I got w. My car the screen was broken so I had to replace it bought this instead on an inpulse but everything wrks on the street in wheel I got all volume up n dwn and that center ball thing but all n all inst too bad now onto adding sum components sets and sub how did everyone deal w. The factory amp run new wires speakers n rca or found sum digital amp that can plug n play n still be reasonable

My plan was originally to run 4 channel RCAs from the aftermarket unit's pre-outs to a JL Audio XD600/6 6-channel amp (which is small enough to fit behind the right luggage compartment trim, where the OE amp is), and then tap into existing speaker wire to each door, and install 2-way components in the rear doors and 3-way components in the front doors. Then another channel tapping the existing wire for the center speaker. With the 6th channel you could power a sub.

But that was going to cost a lot of money, and require lots of mounting fabrication (which I've never done before). Plus I'm no expert and so I'm not positive that would all work.

I got my hands on a cheap RNS 510, so I abandoned the plan and instead replaced my digital amp with the OE analog one and kept the same speakers
