hey there,

anybody know the biggest tire i can get on these f'ing 19" "terra" rims i got? any tire suggestions for good off-road/general use? (was looking at pirelli scorpion atr.)

thanks
If you want offroad tires for your new Treg then get rid of the 19" wheels. You are not going to find a lot if anything for them and when you do they will be expensive due to the size. There was quite a few of us that got the 19" with our Tregs due to them coming with the Lux package and we had the dealer swap them out before they even left the lot.

VW is closing out the Karthum (sp?) 18" wheels for the Touareg... $49 each. I just picked up a set for my off road/winter tires. You won't have much like with the 19" Terra's.. just not enough tire options and not enoughr rubber.

I got mine from Pignataro VW near Seattle. They had 36 wheels in stock this morning (minus 4 since i picked mine up this afternoon.) My normal dealer didn't have any in stock and they weren't able to order any... so they sent me to Pignataro (about 20 miles away.) All Karthum wheels from VW dealers should be $49... VW declared the sale and it seems the dealers are forced to go along with it.

Damn, that's a steal! If I wasn't able to land the 17" Makalu's, those would be a great fallback.

IF they fit on my 2008 V10 then yes... they would fit on an 09. I haven't selected tires yet... i will let you know when i do.

which tires did you put on them for winter? i wonder if the 18
' will fit on a 2009 ..
You will not have to worry about a wheel fit issue unless you have a V10. V10's have larger front rotors and will not fit anything smaller then an 18" wheel. The R5, which is not available in the states, can run a 16" wheel, but that is the only Treg that can do that. Rest can do 17" on up.

My 2008 V10TDI is in need of new tires. From looking online (tire rack, discount, etc..) the tire options are very slim for the 19" terra wheels and EXPENSIVE!

Should I just drop the terras and go with a new wheel? 18"?

I would love to find some Karthoum 18" wheels but Im not sure if they will fit with the 08' V10?

Thanks in advance for the help.

18's fit the V10, but nothing smaller. I run a 265/60r18 on mine and it's the perfect tire for the car.

I love the appearance of my Terra's and if I hadn't bought the 18's, I would go for Cooper Zeon LTZ's in 255/55R19. Unfortunately these were not available when I needed off-road tyres. I have 265/60R18's on my V10, as does Linder, but the original OP I think has a V6TDI for which I think 255/60R18 would be optimum. Horses for courses of course....
Pik shows my 265/60R18 on Audi 8.5" rims. Cheers, Dub

Dub those wheels look awesome!!

I found these on ebay:
Set 18 inch x 8 5" Alloy Metal Wheel Rim for VW Volkswagen Audi Touareg Tiguan | eBay

Very tempted to purchase. Insight?

It seems that the concensus is to go with the bigger wheel for highway cruising and the 18" for offroad/snow. Can I run these 18" wheels with AT tires? Would like to have a comfortable tire on the highway and still be capable offroad. Later on Ill consider having two sets of wheels/tires for whatever life throws at me.

My 18's are Silent Armors. Good off-road and exceptionally quiet on the highway (as the name implies). These have been superceded I believe by the 'Adventure' mentioned above. As for suitability for snow.... can't say, although I did see a picture of some once. (lol) Dub
