Quick question, does a low coolant notification trigger a cel? My wife let me know the t3 was low on coolant it was slightly below the low level so I topped it up. Appears to be the same stuff as what my porsche uses. When I started the car up I got a solid cel light. Nothing else unusual with the car. No apparent leaks in the engine bay, no burning coolant smells, and no dry coolant around any hoses or by the water pump. Coolant temp was at 12 o'clock. The coolant is still pink and the oil is still Brown/black. The car has 67000 miles on it and the oil sensor shows 3/4 full or more after 8000 miles. I typically change the oil every 6-7k miles and will likely be taking it this week to get my new tires installed, oil change, and resetting the cel.

I wanted to also note that it took 24 ounces of coolant/water to get me back close to full.

Seen a few of the t3 gasoline vr6's need headgaskets, see if your #6 spark plug seems cleaner than others and smell your exhaust in the morning startup for sweet chemical smell. Touareg 3 in USA has a 10 year 100k mile powertrain warranty which covers headgaskets.

My understanding is that occurs from the car overheating. I haven't had anything like that happen. Actually the car has been a dream so far. Also I haven't noticed any more white smoke than usual, but I haven't really checked. Will let you guys know about the cel after I get it checked out.

Touaregs do not normally use any coolant.

A duff EGR can cause coolant to be lost through the exhaust with no visible sign of any leak.

Dealership said the code was triggered by a faulty thermostat as well as the leaking. The repairs were covered by the drive train warranty.

I still couldn't leave with out spending an arm and a leg. Had some recently purchased tires installed, wheel allignment, plugs, and wipers installed. The plugs made the car feel peppier.

They said the thermostat was the culprit and replaced under warranty. Unfortunately the service advisor had left when I picked up the car due to the snow storm.

I'll have to keep an eye on the coolant level.

I'd definitely call the dealer to find out exactly what's what.

And check the coolant level daily when cold for a week or so.

Seems to be holding up with no more loss in coolant.

The day after I got it back the coolant was at the low marker again. I called the service manager who said they fill them to the low level when cold, but should reach the high level marker when hot. I thought this was strange, and always filled to just under the max line. I topped it up and it's been fine.
