I just picked up the tank from having my front control arm bushes done - All I can say is WOW! It honestly feels like a new car!

They left the old ones in there - you could move the centre piece around loosely with you fingers!

It goes over bumps so much better you don't notice them so much - It also brakes so much better - I though my pads were wearing prematurely as it felt alittle uneven when braking - like a judder - it's completely gone now and feels like it did the day I bought it...

Woohoo!

All ready to put 3000 miles on next week!

$334... It's something you could possibly do yourself - I don't have the time or a press to get the bushes out though...

What kind of mileage do you have on your Treg? Are you an offroad guy or mostly tarmac or? The control arm bushing in my Passat needed to be replaced at about 45K miles. Maybe VAG bushings are underbuilt?

What year is your Passat? Mine is a 2005 B5.5, 95000miles on the clock, with the four link front suspension(not the Mcpherson strut design of the later B6). Have never changed a thing yet, which could be considered surprising, due to the fact Montreal roads are considered like the worst in the western hemisphere.

If you have 95K on your 05, then my wifes is barely broken in with a little over 40K. :) Do you still have the stock plastic skid plate on your B 5.5? Hers came w/o one and I worry everytime she leaves the garage with it I will get a call that she hit something or ran over something and now has no oil due to a broken oil pan.

Mines an early car VDude, '02 THe Treg is replacing it as my DD. Hopefully the Passat will sell at the VW classic this weekend in Irvine. It's got lots of neat mods.

Yeti, I am hoping that 10mm center nut that holds the belly pan on was put back on when the pan was deleted. The 'other' function of that nut is to hold the hood hold down support rod, without it, the latch is just bolted to plastic...

I have 107k on my treg and sofar no issues with controlarm bushings
You haven't parked in my work carpark ;) These speed bumps would give a tank a shock ;)

That the only place I noticed it badly - and i didn't realise how bad they were until i changed them - it felt so much better today...

The B5.5 came with 2 skids. First time, I took my B5.5 into the dealer, the tech removed the tranny skid saying that in later VINs VW decided to not install it because the tranny oil was getting to hot. Interesting, their was no part number on it and parts had no ability to order it
