As you probably are aware, nudge bars will not give any great degree of protection against kangaroos, etc. For me it was the best option I could get as I really wanted a Bullbar. I was told that the limited amount of barwork on a nudge bar would not affect the airbag sensors. It is also good for spotlights and cb aerials if you want these.

Hi sparewheel, does the nudge bar affect your front parking sensors at all, as I am looking for something similar for spotties, I live in Albany WA so am still procastinating regarding mounting lights next to number plate or go for nudgebar?

Mine is a little shorter/lower, I didn't put it on though, it was on my Treg when I bought it used from Arizona. Thing is, without a structural 'tie in' point up top, it's pretty flimsy. I can push it back 2" and make it touch the bumper cover with just some pressure from my foot. If someone really wanted impact protection, it would need a brace tied to something really solid like the front motor mount or core support...

The sensors squealed for a while, but have now settled into a quiet acceptance for about 99% of the time. If I brake hard they seem to squeal into life again for a short time. I dont know if there is a solution other than turn them off.

I agree with you T-Regasaurus about the frontal protection. I am looking for some kind benefactor who will throw in $10,000 AUD (This is apparently what it costs here to carry out airbag compatability testing) and then I can have a full Bullbar - as per a Landcruiser or similar.

Yeah, but the way yours extends up past the grill, a couple of 1" (2.5cm for you;)) horizontal struts could go thru the grillwork and tie in somewhere solid right? Then it would be very strong in an impact with your local mammal/marsupial population:cool:

Well eventually I have a small so called nudge bar/spotlight holder made, installed along with a pair of Hella4000 spotties which have 55W HID inserts all up total price installed $1600. Lights with HID's $800, installation and manufacture of bar and lights $800. The bar cost $290 and hookc onto front tow hooks and also screwed into front grill somehwere ) ? to stop vibrations etc. Installed by VW in Albany WA and no probs with airbags or parking sensons ....... phew have taken photos now to work out how to download pix onto computer and onto forum ((

Those spotties are HUGE... Keep an eye on the temp gauge, especially if you're going into the desert. Lights are obstructing quite a large portion of the radiator... ;)

Those were my thoughts initially, but was told by Service Manager at VW in Albany (former South African and tam leader formula 1 racing) that it would not be a problem. It's the angle of the photo that make them look like that, I wish my fish I catch look that large... regards Ric

That bar looks good, is it aluminium or stainless steel?

hi sumar, it is 40mm maring grade aluminium, however would have prefered stainless steel ( but it is nice and solid and no movement (vibrations) SHOULD happen to snap off spotlight mounts on rough dirt roads

Hi Alan nice picture, where can u obtain running boards for the Touareg, I was thinking (my wife tells me thats dangerous) that it might help stop stones and mud hitting the side of the car?
