Hey all. Just got a beautiful 2004 Touareg V6, it will be my first and hopefully not last! I have one irritation with this car though, I'd love to have nav and most preferably Apple Car Play support. I really love the Alpine IL007 model, but I don't believe this radio is double din (please correct me). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your also on the right track, CarPlay is the way of the future, can't go wrong. Here is my pioneer 4000nex

That's a great setup- exactly what I'm looking to do. Is there a tutorial you followed or could you give any insight to how you connect the current wiring to these more modern units? I'm a total noob with AV in vehicles.

I want a car play unit so that I can have seamless connection with my iPhone for calls, audio and nav. Just my preference to keep in the Apple ecosystem.

What current system do you have? 10 or 11 speaker? Factory nav? I really didn't follow a tutorial just asked a member how he got rid of the factory amp, he and I both used the new head unit to power the 11 speakers through a network of crossovers where the factory amp was (right rear cargo area).

I have an ILX007/700 in my '04 with the 10 speakers setup without digital amplifier. Plug and play, needs a frame though. Can control volume from steering wheel with the help of an additional harness.

Have the USB/ lighting cable come out inside the armrest box, so no visible cables. Mic hidden in the 11th speakers place by the windshield.

I'm very pleased with the CarPlay setup.

Exactly what he said! I had to cut out the digital amp. I heard that the 10 speaker was plug and play, isagen just confirmed. I do recommend getting the spiral audio face plate it matches the dash trim perfectly.

Which additional harness? So theoretically I can pop out the current radio and pop this one in within 10 minutes? No adapters necessary?

You need the right wiring. The Alpine is called ISO I believe, but the T1 have some VW thing. All auto audio shops sell these conversion-wirings.

For the steering wheel harness there is a little more work involved. You need buy a specific harness for this, preferably online. It must match both your vehicle and your radio.

My two cents,

I had the android s150 headunit for 3 months, my wife and i have Android phones and it was great to just hotspot the phone and use the deck. I never was able get the steering wheel controls working (2006 V10)

Sound was awful..... yikes. i tried a bunch of "enhancing apps" still sounded like crap.

Finally gave up and got the Pioneer 4100nex. Car Play is great, axxcess steering wheel adapter worked out of the box (vol only but i think you can program more) Sound is perfect. I have all my music on an SD card which is easy enough to navigate.

I have recently aquired an 06 v10 with the same head unit , so iv changes it for a Dynavin tw its supplied with 2 cam units .
and extraction tools. only took about 15 min to fit as it was plug and play. so far so good
