It always happens in the morning when I first start the car.
It reads on the panel : Low Key Battery and an orange key sign appears on the dashboard and stays there. After I turn the car off and on during the day, no more of that warning, it is just the first morning start.
I have replaced the battery twice already. Any ideas??

My 04 has started to do that, Dealer replaced the batterys in the remotes and ended up replacing battery in car. At this point they have not been able to fix it. They have orderd a couple of antenne and some controler for the door locks. We shall see.

I had this issue...

I went to a store that specializes in batteries. This battery is quite common and the dealer had a "tray" of them under the counter. We tried 2 of them and both of the "new" keyfob batteries generated the warning message in the MFI. :-(

So...I went to radioshack and bought a new battery in a package. That did the trick - no more error message.

I'd really luv a fix for this! I've tried numerous batteries and i still get the error message. I even got one of the batteries read on a meter and it indicated 'full'. Do we need to specially order a battery replacement from Germany to get this one sorted! Btw i've got the keyless start installed. Is this perculiar to V8's with the keyless start?

I too have this issue going on for quite some time. I have installed my 3rd keyfob battery and still quite often I get the low keyfob battery warning. Even though the keyfob still works to lock/unlock, the warning message is really irritating.

You need to have a load across the battery when testing. Otherwise the voltage reading will not be reliable.

I don't get what this is to mean for us?

We place a 300 ohm resistor into circuit to test a battery?

Mine has locked/unlocked fine since new battery and even the old one was doing well but replaced hoping to get keyless operational agaain. Today I was walking up pressing FOB Button and no unlock,,,then I got up to the door and it took another 3 or so tries to unlock.

I'm buying some more new batteries. Radio Shack has been suggested which I have no faith in their products for 25yrs now but I'll try again.

Exactly. You have to put a "load" on the battery to test it.

Have you ever noticed the big rig that autozone or advance auto hooks up to your car battery when you ask to have it tested. It is a big resister meant to put a load on an automotive battery. You look at how much the battery voltage drops when a load is on the battery to determine if the battery is good or bad.

Batteries can fail in many different ways. A voltage meter alone can give you a definite fail / perhaps good. Testing the battery under load give you definite fail or definite pass.

Read Part Two - Getting the most from your batteries Scroll down to the part that says: Battery Service BU41 Rapid testing of portable batteries. The load test.

x2 on the radioshack fob battery fixing the low indicator. I do not know why other "new" batteries did not work but this fixed it...other than the gremlins liked it :)

The VW Gremlins get happy if you give them a Radio Shack Battery. I love it. :D

My best guess would be you are more likely getting a newer / fresher battery from the Shack. Whatever the reason, I am glad that your problem is fixed. :joy:

Got Radio Shack battery and after starting and idle for a few minutes the keyless is still not working.
I have no low battery warning anymore but I did not drive it...Will see in the morning how that goes.

I was really hoping for keyless to take off.
