Do these apply to the inside of the window? Is the adhesive on the top surface?

No they go on the outside. They are made from professional grade vinyl. They are similar to the signage used on windows in retail shops. I will post an example later (I'm on my iPhone). They are said to last for several years. They won't fade because the vinyl is dyed.

Also, if it were placed on the inside you would have trouble seeing it because of the factory tint on your car.

Here is an example of a professional application of a vinyl decal. The decal I am selling uses the same concept.
