I would like to recommend superbrightleds.com to everyone here. I replaced nearly all the LEDs in the car with them and have had no problems*.

*The only problem I have had so far is with the rear license plate lights. They stay on and work when I have the lights on but engine off, however turn the engine on and the leds shut off two seconds later. I am still trying to figure out this issue.

I will post pictures of my setup later.

Also, superbrightleds.com cigarette torch light is a far more superior light than the ones that come with the Touareg. I highly recommend this one as a replacement, and it only costs $15 which is cheaper than what VW sells them for.

5K ohm with 1/4 watt power rating is working just fine.

Hi Ou812: Do you mean that the rear footwell still blink when LED has added 5K resistor?

Hi JJ2K1: What car do you have (Treg 1 or Treg 2)? As I know Treg 2 has many electrical components updates and will need a little more works with LED bulbs.

Norman, i have not yet purchased the resistor. Going to have to wait until tuesday to get out and do it. But when I get it and install, I will let you know how it turns out. Thanks for the help!

ok Norman, so i added the resistors. the doors work perfectly, however no matter which light i put in the r/r footwell with or with out a resistor it blinks. now with a resistor it will blink a few times and then they will all go out until i unplug the r/r, shut the door, and open it back up. then back to blinking. You think I may need a resistor in all footwell lights?

norman, all are led but the r/r. when i install r/r with led they all 4 start blinking. if i add a resistor they will blink a few times then shut off until i pull the resistors, shut the door, and open it back up. as long as the stock bulb is in the r/r, all is well. i am stumped

ou812: Sounds like there is only one LED has resistor. I would suggest all four footwell are LEDs and the two rear LED with resistors.

These four footwell lights are actuallly controlled by the same circuit, all four LED blink is not a surprise. The blinking just means the light controller need heavier load to work properly. The resistors with LED is to provide controller enough loading current.

If your blinking decreased (lesser "on" time), but has not yet eliminated thoroughly then you can add two more resistors to both front footwell LEDs.

My footwell LED drains about 80mA which is about 1/3 of original bulb. If yours drains lesser current than my then you will need to add more resistor or lower value resistor.

ok i will try just a resistors in the rear. I have already tried a resistor on all four and that caused all four lights to blink a few times and then completely stop working until i unplugged the right rear, shut the door, removed the resistors and then replaced the right rear. I really appreciate all the info and help. Will let you know what happens.

It was a pain in the rear, until you figure it out.

The housing just pops out of the dash (front) or seat bottom (rear). Then you unplug the light housing, but do not let the wire retract back into the dash/seat.

Now that the housing is no longer connected to the wire, I used a knife to pinch back the plastic tabs inward from the metal housing. The metal will bend a little bit and there are four different plastic tabs... one in each corner. I had to keep the knife on one side while I pulled the plastic piece away from the metal housing.

Once the bulb is exposed, just use the knife to pry the bulb out from the bottom

I know that this might sound weird... but it was the best way I can think to explain it.

No computer problems , just done all the lights and everything is ok even the one in the glove compartment and the one in the arm rest and the one in the engine bay
