If you read the thread on V10 Diesel Mileage you may have seen I posted 28 MPG....and was told it was wishful thinking.
I do stand corrected and I'm sorry.

It's Now 29.3:D

I just had new Nitto 420 S tires installed. They are sooo much better than the OEM's that came on it and I get better mileage. Sweet Mamma!

Are you using hand calculated numbers or the MFI numbers?

Ok...Ok...Ok... Your the man Twin Turbo V10.

That is the mileage we all want, and on that note I will now go out and mortgage my house and buy a V10 and hope that I can be the #2 person in the forum to report such numbers.

All kidding aside.... How is it that we have no one else on the forum reporting such fantastic numbers? With all the knowledge and expertise in this community I would think someone else could equal "Twin Turbo's" statements.

I guess my only hope is to wait for the V6 TDI to come out and then I think we'll see some similar or maybe even better numbers.

Guys I don't know...thats what I get.
Is the fuel in NY different?
Thats actual calculations.
I searched for the sweet spot. It's 1,600 to 1,800 rpms.
For this trip I set cruise at 1,650 rpm
I did break it in gently...
How accurate the tach is I'm not sure.

I think trying is the key . . .

The fact that you're obviously looking for the sweetspot and driving the vehicle accordingly to try and achieve the best possible mileage is key. Most people with this much power tend to use it and there goes the mpg. Sadly, if I could have afforded one, I would have got one too. I can afford the V6 version though. :)

Now if I can just get one . . . 8-[

Trust me I do use it when I'm alone and the road is clear. It always shocks the Subaru Turbo crowd when I pull away from them.
I was at the right place at the right time. My lease was up on my 04 V8.
I was going to buy it out after finally getting it proper with massive service bulletins. TSB's
They gave me the V10 at the same cost monthly as buying out the V8.
It's a keeper.

Maybe it is just the Colorado Red V10's that get great mileage;) If I drive 60 mph I can get the same mpg as TTV10....I just am unable to do that. I do get 24-25 mpg at 80 mph...I can live with that.

That MPG number is irrelevant if you can only do it once per month when you REALLY try hard.
What does your computer state that your long-term average is?

If you intend to drive at 1650 RPM all day every day, you don't need a V10.

BTW, I can probably beat that number once if I decide to drive for two hours at 20 miles per hour. Woopidydoo 56MPG can be reached in a V10 TDI

Realistically I think that 19-22 avg. is more attainable on a consistent basis in a V10.....unless my V10 was made in a different country.

My v10's computer has given numbers in excess of 100MPG when coasting to traffic lights :))

I should fill her up then coast down a mountain pass, fill her up again and do hand calculations.......may get incredulous numbers :)

The point is that I don't think your numbers are realistically sustainable over the long term.

You just be driving 50mph on a flat road to get that! On normal freeway speeds of 65 to 70mph my V10 gets 22mpg max. And that's with resetting it once up to speed!! As well, be carefull of your digital readouts. The factory sized tires will give you higher numbers that reality. Bascially your not going as fast as you think you are. A simple way to check is with a handheld GPS unit.

All your post shows is what most of us already know...the speedo reads slow. The odometer is correct as long as you have the correct tires, and that still allows someone to calculate their mileage.

Our speedo's are about 3-5 miles off which only means someones calculations at 70mph were done at 65-67mph instead of 70mph.
It doesn't change the fact that some individuals can still attain astonishing mpg figures regardless of speed claimed or calculated.
