V10 TDI 500 Mile Club

I just did a trip down from Duluth, MN down to Dubuque, IA this past weekend for a wedding. We took our time going down, so I decided to see what I could get for mileage. Other than (1) 40 mile stretch of freeway (doing 80mph) I stuck to going no more than 5 mile over the speed limit. First half of the trip was a 65mph zone, I did around 68mph. The second half (after the freeway portion) was a 55mph (stuck to around 58mph) zone through the country side of southern Wisconsin. By the time we got to Dubuque I got an average rating of 25.5 mpg for the 350 mile trip. I got a total of about 420 miles out of that tank and I still had a 1/4 tank left. That included driving around Dubuque as well. If we hadn't need to rush back I would have waited a bit longer before filling the tank full again.

All in all, I am pretty happy with this.
