I just purchased an '05 Treg Friday night. It came with a 2B DVD for the nav system. While I know this version is out of date, it doesn't show the majority of streets in my area (near Nashville). My house was built in 1930 so I know the street isn't new. It also says my house number doesn't exist. So far, I dislike the nav system. It just seems overly complicated and lacks a lot to be desired. Is this common? Any advice?

I just brought my own '05 home Saturday. I have Version I and just odered 4B from NavTeq. I've been playing around with it to get used to all the functions. It's not bad once you get used to it.

My '05 came with the version one CD's. There are lots of blank spots on the map where I live (Hall County, GA). I bought the 4B CD for my area. It did not help at all. There are still many smaller roads missing in my area. Compared to my Garmin or my daughter's TomTom, the VW nav system leaves a great deal to be desired.

One thing I've noticed is that if you don't have the street name *exactly* right (e.g. drive instead of Ave or St, N. instead of North, etc.) it won't recognize things. Same is true for 'Place' names. It is a bit fiddly. Mostly I liked the one in my Denali better, but they're both better than the one in the Bentley.

Call or email Navteq and make sure your area is covered. If it is not covered, you should ask them why not! Here is the info on the latest release.

I just recently got the 4B cd's for my '04, and I'm satisfied with the content in the Toronto and Ontario regions. My wife has a Navigon 5100 (owns Navteq) and the VW disc is very similar in content to the Navigon. I also have a TomTom GO720, and don't like it at all. It lack many streets in my area compared to the VW and Navigon unit. Once you get past the poor graphics of the VW unit, its really not that bad and does what you need it to.

I paid NAVTECH the $250 + shipping, etc for version 4B of the CD's. I feel like I got robbed....

Other auto manufacturers that partner with NAVTECH have the detail I expect from my NAV system. Why don't the VW ones?

Is there a data content difference in the CD versus DVD other than the file formats? ie - is the DVD VW version more likely to have my 50 YO neighborhood, etc.?

I couldn't agree more. Navteq VW disks are useless. I live less than 30 miles from the State Capital on roads that are 30 years old that are not my 4B disks.

My '05 seems to be lacking the detail when compared to my Magellan.

Looking to by the upgraded DVD and see how much, if at all it improves.
