I initially had trouble programming my 2010. I called the 800# VW help line in the manual. They instructed me to hold the opener remote up high in the center of the windshield in front of the overhead console. They said it was real sensitive to the position of the remote during that step, When I followed their instructions it worked as expected - accepting the code. Then I had to push the "learn" button on the opener so it would recognize the signal from the Treg. All was good from then on!

Get your Touareg as close to the opener head unit as possible when programming. Also your remote batteries might need replacing.

If you have a rolling code, you have to press the purple button on the opener in the garage as a part of the process.

I missed this step when I set up my homelink and it was very frustrating. Hoping you didn't miss this step.

I have the same car and same garage opener. As mentioned hold the garage remote against windshield just below rain sensor area. The homelink sensor is in back area of mirror. This will allow the program to take quickly. Just follow the manual and PM me if i can assist.

I didn't have to press purple to begin. First you have to pair the remote to the car. After the button on homelink changes from flashing slow to a fast rapid flash, then you release all buttons (homelink and remote control) then you get out of the car, press the purple button which will flash slowly on the garage opener motor. Get back in the car and press the button, 1, 2, or 3 that you want the button programmed to. The light will flash twice, release and then test her out.

I tried and tried the method mentioned after RTFM...and while I could get it to blink fast and nothing. When I pressed the purple button and then went through the sequence wahla.

I just bought a 2004 Touareg. Trying to set up homelink with my Chamberlain opener. I cleared the codes in homelink and pressing the #1 button simultaneously pressed my remote and held it under the buttons, under the reading lights and under the mirror and I cant get the light to blink rapidly. According to the Chamberlain website I need to by a Compatibility Bridge. Any thoughts?
