2004 touareg V8 speaker buzz

I own a 2004 touareg V8 with nav, I've had a problem with the left front tweeter speaker. Makes a buzzing sound. The noise goes up with the volume. The dealership said they tried a new radio unit and factory amp. Nothing changed with the buzzing noise, so they put back the original ones. I then took it to a local radio shop and they changed out the speakers and added new speaker wire and 2 new 3rd party amps for the speakers and sub I purchased. They still had to utilize the factory amp as a passthrough for the system. Still using the factory radio/nav. The buzzing noise is there with the cd, radio, or ipod hookup. Any ideas as to what it could be? Oh yes, I also switched the speaker wire at the 3rd party 4 channel amp from left to right and the noise moves when you change the wire, so i know it's not the speakers. Any ideas??

make sure that your treble on the factory radio/nav is not all the way up i had a buzzing noise like that with my first system and it is a problem since you are not able to control or equalize your sound as much as you would with an after market radio/nav. If that does not work make sure that all the cables have no interference and are not peeled or rubbing against something that might be causing the interference.

Im sure xtant will probably have more answers for you than me he is the sound guru here.

Thank you for the tip, but I don't think it's the treble, i have that set right in the middle and it only does this on one side in the front. I just found out that it actually does it in the tweeter and midrange on the door. I guess it could be the wiring/cables, that should be a fun one. Anyone have any other ideas? VW is scatching their heads....

Also do you have any type of electronics that might be causing some static like a cell phone or something with a wireless connection. It might be causing some interference with the speaker signals. Again I'm just throwing things out there so I really don't know what it could be.

Krumms, I have had the exact same problem on my 2004 V6. It was a persistent buzz that remained on all sources while the key was on, but mine was heard on all channels. A new wiring harness was fabbed from the head unit to the factory amp, and the problem was resolved. Unfortunately, since you have made so many changes to the audio systems, you will likely need to fab a new harness yourself.

I had a similiar problem with my '04 V6. The dealer kept my car for nearly one month (VW even picked up the cost of a loaner). They had factory reps look at it, communicated with VW engineers....everything. At that time, this was the first time they had encountered such a problem. They replaced everything from top to bottom and it still buzzed. The ultimate solution.....they wound the wires between the CD changer and the main unit and that did the trick. I have not had the problem since.

same problem with my 2004 v6, but I have no CD changer, It is for sure no the speakers it is the amp or the wires, I would tend to think no that it may be the wires.
