Egr cooler leaking. You can remove it but will lose interior cabin heat and get engine light. Search forum.

Hi WELDMAN thanks for the reply..I'll have a look at the EGR cooler, if I bypass the coolant it should stop smoking then right?

There is no cabin heat at the moment anyways

Injectors faulty - immediate action recommended

Injectors leaking, Looks like more than one, serious issue with potential of total engine break down, just suffered on it - other indications , oil level increasing. First test indcation used by my friendly dealer - diesel rail pressure loss down to Zero after shut down of engine. This Shows an uncotrolled leak of one of the Injektors. A visual check through the glow plug whole supports the Identifikation which one is the faulty ( at mine it has beeen two) but is not 100%, I decided to exchange them all against reworked injectors.

Background: The diesel rail covers diesel on pressure up to 1600 bar during Operation to support up to 5 load dependent quantified and timely controlled injections. It keeps still pressure despite engine shuts down to support faster Restart.

You can get injectors rebuilt.

New ones from a VW dealer will be very expensive.

VW Touareg models are as follows:
Generation 1: T1 is model 7LA & facelift T2 is model 7L6
Generation 2: T3 is model 7P5 & facelift T4 is model 7P6
Generation 3: T5 is model CR7 [Not available in "VW Atlas" North America!]
