My oxidation was severe as well. Turtle wax medium compound polish plus elbow grease did not work for me. Turtle wax medium compound polish plus my cordless dremel tool with buffer worked great. (See my post #4 earlier in this thread.)

Let us know of Mother's Chrome polish works as I'd like to work on the lower exterior door trim next.

I'm not gonna try Mother's Chrome polish because I think my oxidation is too severe for Mother's chrome polish. I'm going 2hrs away to see a Touareg for parts. I'm going to strip off their chrome trim and have them replaced with mine. The lower exterior door trim is soo easy to take out so I recommend you just have it replaced.
