Water in the charge pipe

2.5 litre R5

I haven't seen it yet but the guy I got to replace the couplers on the alternator and A/C pump says there's water in the charge pipe and cylinders 2&3 are clean while the rest are sooty.

Water cooled EGR is blocked and disconnected, had a new water pump a few months ago.

I'm thinking the oil cooler? It's part of the oil pump isn't it?

Can the water hose that go to the water cooled oil pump be blocked off for about a 1000kms until something more permanent can be sorted?

What else could it be?

It wasn't going through water though and there's no mayonnaise under the 710 cap.
