V10 tdi . Workshop engine error after changing rear battery

I replace the weak rear battery and now the multi-function display keeps coming up engine fault workshop and making beeps over and over and over
.basically bought the battery and put it in and attach the wires ..the new battery is good. Car runs perfect except for the incessant beeping..06 V10 40kmiles

You may need to reset the error codes that were made when the rear battery was disconnected. You *might* be able to do it with a generic scanner. But you are better off investing in VCDS.

The official VW repair manual for Touaregs specifically warns about following a strict procedure when disconnecting, replacing and reconnecting dual battery systems, as otherwise "If the sequence is not adhered to, the battery master/isolator switch -E74- may be triggered and the electrical equipment of the vehicle may become damaged.".

Hopefully that wasn't the case here, and as already told, you only need to clear the fault codes, that randomly got triggered, because of the voltage fluctuations. However, if that doesn't solve your problem, then maybe you got unlucky and some of your equipment indeed got damaged.

What Gnits said!
You do not say what year your V10 is but I have the impression the Bentley warning may be especially applicable to the Ď03-Ď04 models.

Then VCDS will take care of the faults plus you have access to the experts on their forum.
