V10 Battery Information

The following represents research I've done on the two batteries required for the V10 TDI. Most place's websites didn't show batteries for the Touareg V10 TDI, and some showed incorrect information. So I visited the various parts stores in person armed with the battery specs and a note pad and found the batteries we need ... even if it involved digging through the battery racks myself.

If you discover any other data or corrections to this data, please feel free to respond - I'm not a battery expert. Also, the prices may change regionally or over time.

Compiled Jun 5, 2012.

Interstate batteries

Just replaced my batteries with two from Interstate Batteries. Their website has the specs, and they are also listed above. Their H9 battery was bigger than the WalMart brand battery that was in there, so I didn't think it would fit under the front seat. But there's a lot of room under there. I've attached photos of the two batteries.

FYI - the WalMart batteries died after 20 months. I could have gotten a pro-rated value applied to a new purchase (25%) but I bit the bullet and went with a higher grade battery. The Interstate brand has a 3 year full replacement warranty and a 6 year service life guarantee.

Where's the little wire thingummy in your tool kit for pulling the plastic caps off the wheel lugs?

And I hope you got your vacuum cleaner out before you dropped the driver's seat back down!

When I got it used, the wire thingy and the air hose were gone. I made a new wire thingy out of bailing wire, but it's in the Beetle.

I have the deep fit WeatherTec mats so when you lift them there's always a little buildup. I vacuumed (or hoovered) before replacing them.

Well you'd better make another thingummy!

Glad to hear you Dysoned the carpets too.

Funny how a product becomes synonymous with a task like "Hoover".

I worked with a company called Redler that made chain conveyors for moving granular products, notably, in my business, grain - wheat, barley, oats. I subsequently learnt that in Africa a chain conveyor was called a redler regardless of who made it!

I gave up on that discussion a while back
If people want to throw money away on both batteries its their choice.
