Trouble Code P1456 EGT Limit - 2006 V10

Today, the V10 threw a MIL. Bless my wife who called me to ask what the light was and if she needed to pull over and shut her down. The readout from the VCDS follows. Anyone have any idea if the EGT sensors are possible to access with the engine in? So far, the fault count is "1", so this could be a spurious fault, but more miles will tell is this is an isolated incident or not. Could this be a sign of a clogging DPF? Which side is "Bank 1"? Does anyone know how to measure EGT with VCDS?

OK, I was at the dealership today. This code is for an EGT sensor for the DPF filer. Not sure exactly where in the exhause system it meters, but the sensor is said to be in top (!) of the transmission. Getting to it will require dropping the transmission cross member to allow the transmission the required room to replace the sensor.

Also, Bank 1 refers to the (vehicle) right side of the engine.

My '06 V10 complained about the same thing a week ago. I just had a chance to hook the VAG to it and saw the same reading as yours. Did you end up fixing yours? I am still covered by extended warranty but am curious what will have to come off to get to it. Did they end up dropping the transmission?

Thanks

PS. My readings for those that care:

I too just got this error on my 07 V10. Did either of you get this fixed...I know it does not impact drivability but it does cause emissions inspection failure.

Thanks

Oops-I just noticed that age of this thread so now I know a fix must have been found.

anyone ever find a solution for this?

it is indeed impacting my driveability (rough idling, weird shifting, mild surging, etc...). at first i thought it was my fuel filter so i've got one on order. and then i got the check engine light and this was the code thrown.

any insight would be appreciated.

Do you have a before and after sensor on your system? Your reported temp is 100deg C higher than the others who previously posted.
It sounds to me like your DPF is trying to burn itself down.... Due to your milage it is not unreasonable to think that your DPF is full.

I would do more troubleshooting because you more than likely need more than just an EGT sensor.
