Nicely done. I like the pallet and pallet trolley idea.

All vw/audi engines must use 507.00 spec oil except non-DPF R5/V10 engines that must use 505.01/506.01

Takes 5h if you can raise the body, bit more if you're taking front end off.

Where did you purchase turbos? I need one one for mine and only want to do the job once so will probably do both and remove unnecessary equipment.

Definitely do both. You can get your turbos reconditioned.

Look at the other bits you should do whilst the engine is out.

VW Touareg models are as follows:
Generation 1: T1 is model 7LA & facelift T2 is model 7L6
Generation 2: T3 is model 7P5 & facelift T4 is model 7P6
Generation 3: T5 is model CR7 [Not available in "VW Atlas" North America!]

Nicely done!
I had wondered before buying a treg if it would be possible to remove the engine out the front (audi style I would call it) without dropping the whole mess out underneath. I guess it doesnt much matter to me anymore as I found a V6 with air suspension.... but thanks for posting and letting us know you can do it that way

And pls guys do yourself a favor, dont replace turbos for the fun of it, have them checked before. I had '04 v10s with 200k mi plus on original turbos and still going, fixed the leaks above them and voila. 2006 seem to fail more often and you will hear and see when they do.
